She fills my bed with gasoline
You think I wouldn’t notice
Her minds made up the love is gone
I think someone’s trying to show us a sign

That even if we thought it would last
The moment will pass
My bones will break and my heart will give
Oh it hurts to live

I remember the day
When ya left for Santa Monica
Ya left me to remain will all your excuses for everything
I remember the time when ya left for Santa Monica
I remember the day you told me it’s over

It hurts to breathe
Every time that you’re not next to me
Her minds made up the girl is gone
And now I’m forced to see
I think I’m on my way
Oh it hurts to live today
And when she said
Don’t you wish you were dead like me

I remember the day
When ya left for Santa Monica
Ya left me to remain will all your excuses for everything
I remember the time when ya left for Santa Monica
I remember the day ya told me it’s over

I wanted more than this
I needed more than this
I deserve more than this
But it just won’t stop, it just won’t go away
I needed more than this
I wanted more than this
I asked for more than this
But it just won’t stop, it just won’t go away

I remember the day
When ya left for Santa Monica
Ya left me to remain will all your excuses for everything
I remember the time when you left it all behind
I remember the day you told me it’s over

I remember the day
When you left for Santa Monica
You left me to remain with all your excuses for everything
And I remember the time when you left for Santa Monica
I remember the day you told me it’s over…

General CommentI'm pretty sure the line is supposed to be 'She fills my bed with gasoline, you'd think I would've noticed.'

General CommentSanta Monica represents a false hope for something better. Basically he's talkin about a girl who left him because she was coaxed away by the thought of something better...

General CommentI think that this line refers to how he feels he has no emotions, his heart is dead because she's gone away from him.

I get the idea that this song is about a girl who left him for something better, but he doesn't think she got what she wanted, that it wasn't all that it seemed.

"It hurts to breathe" shows that he misses her, is devastated, but

"Her minds made up the girl is gone
And now I’m forced to see
I think I’m on my way"

Shows that he realises that she's not going to do anything more for the relationship and that he can't change her mind.

I love this song and how it really portrays all the emotions he seems to be feeling. He has an amazing voice, no?

    "And when she said

The girl is the one who says that line...it's not about him.

General CommentTo me this song is about taking things for granted, then leaving everything behind. When you leave it all behind you realize how lucky you are to have it and how much you need it. Thats just me tho

General CommentI heard somewhere this song's title was referring to Santa Monica Blvd, as in the women he is talking about is a prostitute. Hence she has to leave for "Santa Monica" and the reference to being "Dead like Me"...something to that effect anyways. Think about it.
