(Hey!)

Well I read the news today
And the walrus said the lucky man made the grade yea
Well ain't that great
You say
Well about the rest of that news left me empty and mad
Singing the blues yeah
Its sad but true

'cause,
Everything gets old, everyone is dumb
So I keep changing
Everything is gay, everyone is fake
So I can't hang around

Si-Si-Sitting back look with on your face
Like I'm a piece of crap
And you're a fucking ace well
Its time to go
You know?
Hit the road jack
Like the song goes you ain't ever coming back
Because the world turned black
Well don't you know?

'cause,
Everything gets old, everyone is dumb
So I keep changing
Everything is gay, everyone is fake
So I can't hang around

(Oh oh)

Well don't you know?
Everything gets old, everyone is dumb
So I keep changing
Everything is gay, everyone is fake
So I can't hang around
Everything gets old, everyone is dumb
So I keep changing
Every word they say
Every word is fake

So I won't be around

Everything gets old, everyone is dumb
Everything gets old, everyone is dumb
Everything gets old, everyone is dumb

This song is awesome. UL is a damn good band. This song is a collage of beatles songs which is pretty cool. The song meaning is somed up by 'Everything gets old, everyone is dumb' so so true! This album should be great, Music From High Places is going to be tough to follow. I can't believe allmusic.com only gace that album 2 and half stars! I mean outdoors acoustic getting that good of a sound (they problem have taylor guitars and stuff but still)!! Anyway, definitely looking forward to hear the new album!

This is written from the perspective of a cynical person. I believe we are supposed to take this person to be wrong about "everything" and "everyone" in the sense that logically it is impossible for these absolutes to exist. But, I think the person represents a large segment of the youthful population and how they see the world. In a world where tragedy is apparent, and knowledge is deep, it is easy to become disillusioned and feel isolated. As a cynical person, the person is aware of the aspects of culture he adopts from certain groups, and then he rejects them when he sees others acting the same way because he realizes it is all a charade. He wants to "keep changing" to prove he isn't vulnerable to the attacks on his independence made by his society's norms and views on culture. This might be far too deep an idea for just some rock band (I don't know whether or not the band is intelligent), but the ending lines emphasize everyone gets old and everyone is dumb, which would include the speaker. The irony is thus that while speaker is aware of the flaws of everyone, he spends all his time trying to avoid these flaws, when the flaws will inevitably touch him assuming they haven't already because by isolating himself he learns nothing and simply will become old and dumb.

OnlyHeren4DICK has it all wrong!!! He is among those of which are in fact gay. If you don't think a majority of the population (American population that is) is gay, tool bags, or absolutely freaking stupid then you don't get this song. On the other hand, it is SOOOOOO Beatles!

Music in high places is hard to follow not to many bands can pull off acoustic like UL and this is a good follow up to MiHP.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
