"Maybe I" as written by and John Ondrasik....
You were right
You came over me
What'd never been before
You slid under my door and now I find
A Reason to admit I've been too lazy

But in this light
In this atmosphere
I'm starting to believe
The other side of me but who's to know
Honey, surely one of us is crazy

Maybe I, I'm not so easily stung
Maybe I, I got some love for someone
Maybe I, I'm not the story for you
Maybe I, I'll be the do you ought to do

So now I stand
I never stood before
What's better left unsaid is done, buried and dead and you're alive
Girl I think you might just stay the night

Maybe I, I'm not so easily stung
Maybe I, I got some love for someone
Maybe I, I'll write a story for you
Maybe I, I'll be the do you ought to do

I'm not trying to take it easy
I'm not trying to help you see
I'm not trying to take us over
I'm just trying to believe

Maybe I, I'm not so easily stung
Maybe I, I got some love for someone
Maybe I, I'm just the story for you
Maybe I, I'll be the do you ought to do

Maybe I, I'm not the one for your love
Maybe I, I'll be your heaven above
Maybe I, I'll write a story for two
Maybe I, I'll be the do that you do

General CommentThis song is about a guy who's confused/disturbed and this girl is trying to help him be the best he can be. And now he's in a new place in life, but he's so unsure about everything and is trying to make sense of it all. He's begining to see all the possiblilities, and at the same time, warning the girl that he's still just trying to find his way.

General CommentI think this song is about a married guy telling his female friend that he is attracted to her, wants her and even has some love for her. The singer doesn't make it clear until he repeatedly yet hesitantly says..."Maybe I....Maybe I .....Mabye IIIIIIII....I'm not so easily stung....Maybe I, I got some love for someone." In the beginning of the song you think he's talking about the love he has for his wife but when he hesitates & repeats with the Maybe I's (you must listen carefully as it's subtle) you know he obviously has love for another woman. The last verse is confusing because it could mean that even though he believes he's not the one for her love he will still "do" (f***) her ("I'll be the do that you do."). Or It could also mean that that he will be strong and do the moral thing and she has no choice but to follow. Confusing but awesome song!!!

General CommentLudybelles right on. I saw FFF in concert and John said this song is about being in love with 2 women....so does he remain faithful or not? That's the whole point of the song, dudes. The lyrics could mean that he doesn't and he & girlfriend get it on with "Ill be your heaven above." or it could mean that he remains faithful, setting an example for the girlfriends and thus is her gate into "heaven above". After all thou shalt not commit adultery. Clever work John.

General CommentThis song was given to me by a married friend who said that he often thought of me when he heard this song. As he gave me the lyrics he said "My wife is my best friend." And later, "The song represents the emotion I have for you." Subsequently he quit emailing and calling me. I therefore see this song as meaning rejection ("I'm not so easily stung.").

General CommentThis may be my favorite FFF song. I has so much feeling and emotion. For me, it's about self discovery. Either through yourself and your own findings, or through another human.
