Vague sound of rain
Pierces through my song again
But I get distracted by the way his toes move when he plays
So I let it burn

I just poured my heart out
There's bits of it on the floor
And I take what's left of it and rinse it under cold water
And call him up for more

And I say baby, yes I feel stupid to call you, but I'm lonely
And I don't think you meant it when you said you couldn't love me
And I thought maybe if I kissed the way you do, you'd feel it too

He said I'm sorry
So sorry
I'm sorry
So sorry

He grabs my wrist
As my fingers turn into angry fists
And I whisper why can't you love me, I'll change for you
I'll play the part

And I say baby, so I feel stupid to call you, but I'm lonely
And I don't think you meant it when you said you couldn't love me
And I thought maybe if I kissed the way you do, you'd feel it too

[Repeat x2]
He said I'm sorry
So sorry
I'm sorry
I am sorry

this song does wonderful things to her voice. or maybe it's the other way around. the lyrics are beautiful. who doesn't feel anything when she sings "He grabs my wrist As my fingers turn into angry fists And I whisper 'Why can't you love me, I'll change for you I'll play the part.'"?

This song is amazing. Anyone who has heard it will be able to relate to it...the heartbreak of a lost love and the desire and will to do anythig to be with someone is something everyone experiences...beautiful and melancollie song...

I agree with you. I adore Maria Mena after listening to "Patience", and then I came across this song. It's so sad, it's something ANYONE can relate to. I know I can.

I downloaded this song today and since I'm going through a rough patch with my boyfriend, this is just amazing. I love this song.

Any girl and feel this song. Messy break ups where you aren't ready to fall out of love, when they have already given up on you? Boys break hearts.

I won't state the meaning, cause... its kinda obvious. I broke up with my boyfriend a couple of months... And, and I called him the other day. And. And I can't even talk about it. But yeah it sucks

"I just poured my heart out There's bits of it on the floor And I take what's left of it and rinse it under cold water And call him up for more"

Yeah, I did that. And that was it.

There is nothing worse than a broken heart and how it feels when a relationship is ending when you don't want it too. Maria definitely hit the spot for me when she sings: "And I whisper 'Why can't you love me, I'll change for you.I'll play the part.'

And I say 'Baby, yes I feel stupid to call you, but I'm lonely. And I don't think you meant it when you said you couldn't love me. And I thought maybe if I kissed the way you do you'd feel it too"

this song reminds me of my friend so much. because she puts her heart out there and lets it get broken again and again. and she doesn't realize she can't change the way he feels.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
