Blessed be the doctor and blessed be the nurse.
Blessed be the coachman who put me in the hearse.
Blessed be the blessings and blessed be the curse.

Rattled from the sediment
Old bones around the settlement.
Tell who passed out the medicine
The dose was much too strong.

He goes to bed bereft and berated
And rests his head in the hands of the over rated.
Sweating bullets in the faculty lounge,
Sensing treason they're not waiting around;
On the first bus out of town
They're playing movies that they've already seen.

The jewelry advances as the gums recede,
The devil goes out dancing on the angels perceived needs, please go easy on me.

Cheap sex with a discount broker-
Cop's walkie-talkie squawks breaker-breaker,
We got to take her down to the station
She says that that broker broke her.

Read the text at the ticker tape parade-
The subtext is that someone's getting paid off.
Check the checks at the ticker tape parade-
Pay stubs of the people who've been laid off.

Insurance can't cover what the world's exposed-
Open nerves. Touching toes to stretch,
The A.C. made us retch.
Can you conceive of working for the
Emperor's new clothes?

(please go)
Please go easy on me!
Please go easy on me!
Please go easy on me!
(please go)

Please go easy on me!
Please go easy on me!
Please go easy on me!
(please go)

Please go easy on me!
Please go easy on me!
Please go easy on me!
(please go)
Please go easy on me!

Les Savy Sav is so fucking amazing. It took me a while to get into this song, but it's finally got me addicted. I love the guitar in the background of the "cheap sex...laid off" part, and right after "laid off" it becomes the focus, when they say "wahoo" and I'm totally rambling, but it's awesome. These lyrics are so cool. And clever.

    I believe it's

Blessed be the doctor, blessed be the nurse Blessed be the coachman who took us in the herse Blessed be the blessing and blessed be the curse

Paddle from the sediment All those around the settlement Dilute themselves in medicine The dose was much too strong!

He goes to bed, bereft and berated And rests his head in the hands of the overrated.

    Woo-Woo

Sweating bullets in the faculty lounge Says it's treason and not waiting around On the first bus out of town Playing movies that we've already seen

The chill in the abyss as the gums receed The devil does a dance on the edge of the sea needs

Please go easy on me! Please go easy on me! Please go easy on me! Please go easy on me!

Cheap sex with a discount broker Cops, walkie-talkie squash, breaker breaker, We got to take her down to the station She says that that broker broke her

Read the text at the ticker-tate parade The sub-text is that someone's getting paid off Check the checks at the ticker-tate parade Pay stubs of the people who've been laid off

    Woo-Woo

Inssurance can't count but the world's exposed Open nerves, times they told us to stretch The A/C made us RETCH

Can you concieve us Working for the Emperors new clothes

I have the actual sleeve lyrics right here, mind if I correct a few mistakes?

My corrections are under each paragraph in parantheses.

Blessed be the doctor, blessed be the nurse Blessed be the coachman who took us in the herse Blessed be the blessing and blessed be the curse (herse = hearse blessing = blessings)

Paddle from the sediment All those around the settlement Dilute themselves in medicine The dose was much too strong! (Rattled from the sediment, old bones around the settlement. Tell who passed out the medicine, the dose was much too strong!)

He goes to bed, bereft and berated And rests his head in the hands of the overrated.

    Woo-Woo

Sweating bullets in the faculty lounge Says it's treason and not waiting around On the first bus out of town Playing movies that we've already seen (sensing treason, they're not waiting around)

The chill in the abyss as the gums receed The devil does a dance on the edge of the sea needs (The jewelry advances as the gums recede, the devil goes out dancing on the angels perceived needs) Please go easy on me! Please go easy on me! Please go easy on me! Please go easy on me!

Cheap sex with a discount broker Cops, walkie-talkie squawks, breaker breaker, We got to take her down to the station She says that that broker broke her (Cops walke-talkie sqwuaks breaker-breaker)

Read the text at the ticker-tate parade The sub-text is that someone's getting paid off Check the checks at the ticker-tate parade Pay stubs of the people who've been laid off (ticker-tape parade)

    Woo-Woo

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
