"Hole in the World" as written by and Don Henley Glenn Frey....
There's a hole in the world tonight.
There's a cloud of fear and sorrow.
There's a hole in the world tonight.
Don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow.

They say that anger is just love disappointed.
They say that love is just a state of mind.
But all this fighting over who is anointed,
Oh, how can people be so blind?

There's a hole in the world tonight.
There's a cloud of fear and sorrow.
There's a hole in the world tonight.
Don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow.

Oh, they tell me there's a place over yonder
Cool water running through the burning sand.
Until we learn to love one another,
We will never reach the Promised Land.

There's a hole in the world tonight.
There's a cloud of fear and sorrow.
There's a hole in the world tonight.
Don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow.

(There's a hole in the world tonight.)
They say that anger is just love disappointed.
(There's a cloud of fear and sorrow.)
They say that love is just a state of mind.
(There's a hole in the world tonight.)
But all this fighting over who will be anointed,
(Don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow.)
Oh, how can people be so blind?

There's a hole in the world tonight.
(Hole in the world)
There's a cloud of fear and sorrow.
(Fear and sorrow)
There's a hole in the world tonight.
(Oh)
Don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow (repeat three times)

General CommentThis song to me means that people here in america should work together and not fight. This song was made due to 9/11.
That day was a devestating day for all men, women, and children here in the USA. It is also saying that we should believe in each other and quit our fighting amongst our selves.

General CommentIt's a beautiful song, that has a place closer to my heart than 9/11. I'm not American, and I was not affected personally by the events of that day (I am in no way saying it as not a horrible day, but I have no personal ties there at all).

It is such a fitting song in this world of ours today... We're not accpeting, and until we are, we will not reach the 'promised land'.

General CommentThis song is beautiful-harmonies, lyrics, etc. It is obviously about 9/11, but it can apply to more than just that. The overlapping lyrics signify that we let all the little things bother us, but nobody is seeing the big picture. Using 9/11 as an example: in the days/months after, all that we could think about was going to war, and retaliating, and kicking someone else's butt. But we are missing the picture: look at how evil humanity has become. Look at the destruction. There's a hole at ground zero, but there's also a "hole in the world." Lack of peace. Basically they're saying we will never get anywhere by hating anyone.

"But all this fighting over who will be anointed, oh how can people be so blind" =all we want to do is fight, fight, fight. We are missing the Big picture.

    So beautiful.
