"Sideways" as written by and Clarence Greenwood....
You know it ain't easy
For these thoughts here to leave me
There's no words to describe it
In French or in English
Well, diamonds they fade
And flowers they bloom
And I'm telling you
These feelings won't go away

They've been knockin' me sideways
They've been knockin' me out lately
Whenever you come around me
These feelings won't go away
They've been knockin' me sideways
I keep thinking in a moment that
Time will take them away
But these feelings won't go away

General CommentI completely relate. Going through my own heartbreak of mine and dealing with feelings that wont go away. To me- it's about being so wrapped up into someone and feeling so much for them. you think you can get over the person (i keep thinking in a moment that time will take them away) but you feel so strong for this person that "these feelings wont go away". it's such a beautiful song. and i think many can relate. i love the beginning lines. it sums up how i am dealing with certain emotions and thoughts. it's hard to me to let go and for certain thoughts about my ex to leave me. such a gorgeous song.

General CommentI absolutly LOVE this song...
The Version with Carlos Santana is so much better than the one off Clarence Greenwood.

This is the only song that drives me to tears when I hear it....

In my opinion it is about a man who is so in love with a woman that he can no longer control it. These feeling have compleatly taken over him and no matter what he does "these Feeling wont go away"

General CommentThe songs great because it can be applied to many situations and different people relate to it differently...it's a universal song. When I listen to it, the artist is in the middle of a relationship that he truely is happy with and likes. The feelings that won't go away are the feelings for another person, whether those feelings are permanent or just a phase they kinda worry him and make him think. Diamonds are one of the stongest materials in the world, when he says "diamonds they fade" he talks about his strong relationship that he's currently in seems to be dulled/is fading in comparison to these new feelings that he feels. He expresses these new feelings for the anonymous person in the line "Flowers they bloom".
The song compares a happy, loving, stable relationship with someone to new feelings he experiences when he's around someone else. He doesn't know why he feels them, i'm not too sure he even wants to feel them, but for whatever reason he does and its making him think....

General CommentI think it could also be more about him being afraid to feel something. Maybe he doesn't want to let down his guard, but he just can't help it when he's around that certain person.

General CommentThis song to me is unrequited love.
But maybe it's because I'm putting myself into the song.

General CommentI think this song is about a love that you cannot have. "for these thoughts to leave me here" just sounds to me like he is left alone to feel this love by himself. regardless this guy is awesome.

General Commentthis is a great song about. I think its about, like other people have stated, loss of a loved one, and not being able to get over them. Santana just takes this song over the top with his AMAZING guitar skills.
you can get lost in this song, super easy

My InterpretationMy opinion of this song is death and mortality.

    Well, diamonds they fade
In my interpratation, a young man (or woman) who is in the prime of his youth feeling as though he's invincible and then becoming old and unable

    And flowers they bloom
Again in my interpration the renewing of the 'diamond', a young boy (or girl) growing up and continuing the cycle.

Also the song is a loop of the same general lyrics and the fade out (not stop) also lead me to beleive the repeat of the cycle.

Although in retaliation of this style of interpration (Death, morning, mortality etc) French is the referred to as a language of love (as followed by Spanish and Irish). Although at the same time this could also be a refference to a loved one not just the excluded lover.
