"The Analyst" as written by and Cathy/chambers Dennis....
Prepare yourself to meet a girl who can not sleep
Dividing every question 'til the questions are complete
Every twisted tongue she studies everyone
She won't leave any stone unturned the night is oh so young

Oh oh she's traveling back in time
Questioning every line that someone said
Oh oh she's trying to understand

Free her mind she's always the analyst
Silent space the culprit the catalyst
Trying to make sense of her life
Digging around in the dirt she's a slave to the work
She's always the analyst

Can you be sure we haven't met see the eyes they don't forget
They wander through the passage-ways that tease a restless mind
Can't afford to slip the picture's gotta fit
Her world's a photograph that gets dissected bit by bit

Oh oh she's traveling back in time
Questioning every line that someone said
Oh oh she's trying to understand

Free her mind she's always the analyst
Silent space the culprit the catalyst
Trying to make sense of her life
Digging around in the dirt she's a slave to the work
She's always the analyst

Re-living the mistake she's made not a moment for the curious girl

Free her mind she's always the analyst
Silent space the culprit the catalyst
Trying to make sense of this life
Digging around breaking it down
Neurotic thoughts
Burning the ground
Every sight every sound
She's always the analyst

General CommentTaken from Delta’s track by track commentary on bonus DVD, Delta Goodrem – Mistaken Identity, Sony Music (Australia), 2004.

“It really talks about analysing … I know so many people, I know I do, I think it was around Wimbledon time [and she was deciding what to write a song on] and, and I go to bed and I think the day through and I go over everything and I think, oh, should I have done this… and I thought well I’m always analysing so I wanted to write a song about analysing.”

General CommentReminds me of an old teacher of mine to be honest. Too busy staring at Shakespeare tryign to find what ingeniousness she could pull out of the text that she wouldn't listen to anyone else.

General CommentThis song reminds me so much of myself. It's about looking far too much into something and obsessing over stupid things:

"Digging around breaking it down "

Very cleverly written as well. I like the way shes used ceratin words you wouldnt normally find in the same sentence:

"Silent space, the culprit, the catalyst"

    Awesome

General CommentI actually think it's about someone who has lost their memory. And I thought it was 'silence plays the call from the catalyst'. But then that's me.

General CommentJust about someone (that someone obviously being Delta) over-analysing. It could also be about a journey of self-discovery as well.
