if i wanted to say to you
that i wanted to see your face again
that i wanted to hear you laughin', oh
in spite of all the damage i've done
if i wanted to hear you talkin'
or to hear your sense of things
or to call you up on a sunday morning
in spite of all the damage i've done

well, i broke up our home
and left you nowhere to run
yes, i broke up our home
and left you nowhere to run

well, i'm livin' out my days away
i think you understand,
that i couldn't have stayed
but i'd like to hear you laughin', oh
in spite of all the damage i've done

General CommentMaybe she caused a lot of damage and it took her a really long time (and a wacky experience) to realize it. She had to see things from his (their) perspective in order to understand the toll she took on his life (or more). Maybe the "home" she broke wasn't a home but a friendship (or two) and she ran away and that was difficult for him.

Now she hopes to see him again someday cuz she always enjoyed his sense of things. She hopes he has lots of happiness and laughter in his life despite of all the damage she's done.
