"You Turn Me Around" as written by and Matthew Nicholas Hales....
The end, it was the end
The sirens were pulling him down
And his heart was so cold
So very cold, you'd believe it might never have beat.

When the sun sets around me,
My daydreams confound me,
And the long night surrounds me,
You turn me around.

And you; she was there too
Drowning and wanting it over.
And her hope was all lost
All hope was lost
Given up and never again

When the sun sets around me,
My daydreams confound me,
And the long night surrounds me,
You turn me around.

But watch as fingertips touch
And the life floods in
And they swim to the sun

Oh, and the long night surrounds me
You turn me around

I won't let you down
I won't let you down
You turn me around

General CommentA guy is having a rough time in life - perhaps he's seriously depressed, unhappy with his lot, and dismayed at the prospect of ever being happy. He's at the edge and he figures it's "the end". "The sirens were pulling him down" and he's so numb and cold that it seems like his heart "might never have beat". But alas, he's not alone because "she was there too". No longer alone, desperate, and "drowning and wanting it over", the two - he & she and you & me - "watch as fingertips touch". They've each found the anchor that will save their life and make it worth living. "Life floods in" and with hope in other, they "swim to the sun" as rescued lovers.

A great song for the unrequited and dreamers alike...

General Commenti sort of relate this song to a (once) good friend of mine. even though its supposed to be a lover type deal, i think of my old friend. she was going through a bit of a rough patch, as was i, and she helped me more than anyone had. she turned me completely around. likewise, i told her "i won't let you down." we are barely friends anymore and it kills me every day.
