"Nobody" as written by and John Ondrasik....
Take off your shoes, take off yourself
Take off your rented mental health
Take off your raincoat, settle down
Take off your nightmare and your frown
There is a place for you to go
To see another ringer in a rock show
Take my pretense for a time
Cause I want to say to you

I'm nobody without you, buddy
My long lost friend

If you're not here to hear me scream
Am I silent like a dream
Where all the dragons are my friends
Each night we meet our bitter ends
Do I need you to make me real
Like Wheeler spinning his own wheel
Quantum strings within my brain
Popping sanities insane

I'm nobody without you, buddy
My long lost friend

Not everybody has a brain
Not everybody's going sane
Not everybody wishes well
Not everybody's heaven's hell
Sometimes there's someone to blame
Sometimes a place for shame
Sometimes good's better than bad
Sometimes good's better than bad
Sometimes good's better than bad
Sometimes you're better than me

Heaven fell on herself tonight
As the devil met me in the wishing well
And in that moment I found myself knowing
That in the end it's just about you and me
Nothing smaller or larger
Though dragons are good for the soul
Nothing can be better than baring yourself for another,
Open for scrutiny, ridicule, and indulgence
Therein lies the balls, and the mind, and the heart,
As fear is truly the Mindkiller,
When nothing is left,
Everything is gained,
You see I wish I was a poet
But I know as we go round and round
Though endings are never ever happy
It's the happy moments along the way
That in the end
Make it, OK

General Commentwell this song means a hell of a lot to me..definately an empowering song. anyway, i got a chance to ask john about these lyrics in an online chat. Heres what the wise one had to say. "You are defined by your friends as well as your enemies. It's a testament that by ourselves we're nothing, other people make us who we are." if those arent words of wisdom i dont know what is..

General Commenti love this song, the way it draws together all the themes of the Battle for Everything. Maybe in part, that theme is 'scrutiny, ridicule and indulgence' but theres so much more. Not really sure what this ones about, longing for a long lost friend, remembering and cherishing the happy times as if that person is gone forever. Not sure really, but love the song and the spoken poetry at the end is great, after all, it really is the happy moments along the way, that in the end, make it ok.

General CommentWow i love those words from quirky cutie, its so true its not so often we can state for ourselves whatever we want. its our actions that make people see who we are and that truely is our friends and enemies. wow i wish i could talk to john that would be amazing. I've only become a dedicated fan this year but that man is truely a hero to me with his words.

General CommentYa. The spoken poetry is truly amaziing. I've been able to apply it to so many completely different situations. It's very true. Every word of it; and it very seldom that songs have lines which are all true. I'm in awe.
