There was a time
Everybody was around and I was dancing with you
We all went down to the party Friday night
And had a drink there or two
Oh what a heat
I feel love and heart beat
It's electricity
Majestic sound, round and round and round, got you next to me

Feel my heartbeat drumming to the beat
Like a symphony
Feel my heartbeat drumming to the beat
Like a melody, come see

Feel my heartbeat drumming to the beat
Like a symphony
Feel my heartbeat drumming to the beat
Like a melody, come see

Time after time everybody came around
And I was dancing with you
Don't know your name,
Making me ashamed
To feel the way that I do
The lights went out
Couldn't leave without you, this is the place to be
I won't forget
The greatest times I've had when I was dancing with you

Feel my heartbeat drumming to the beat
Like a woman in love
Feel my heartbeat drumming to the beat
Like a woman in love so high

Feel my heartbeat drumming to the beat
Like a symphony
Feel my heartbeat drumming to the beat
Like a melody, come see

Feel my heartbeat
Feel my heartbeat
Feel my heartbeat

There was a time when everybody was around and I was dancing with you
Don't know your name,
Making me ashamed
To feel the way that I do
The lights went out
Couldn't leave without you, this is the place to be
I won't forget
The greatest times I've had when I was dancing with you

This simplicity of this song is fascinating. At first ti's just a pop song with trite 'heart' metaphors. Once you really listen to it and get inside the song you realize it's about a lot more. It describes that dream of any partygoer, or perhaps anyone in life, to find that perfect stranger, and have one perfect night. She feels the shame, the reluctance, but just fully embraces the spontaneity of life. That's all that anyone can ask for, to forget their life for one perfect night.

I heard this in Girl Talks 'Night Ripper' and totally knew it was this song (even though I have never heard it until now). And as much as I love the original I can't get the GT version out of my head.

i think it's "truly", not "drumming"

It's drumming, just in the Norwegian accent it's "droo-ming". I thought at first it sounded like truly. And I absolutely love this song, and I'm not a big fan of dance music.

I'm not clear on the details but Annie's boyfriend who helped her get into the music industry died because of some kind of heart failure before Annie became "known" I guess.

I was planning on saying the same thing as Indie YYY, and I think we both got it from Pitchfork, haha.

This is one of my favorite songs ever. It really is a flawless piece of music.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
