You're just a stupid girl
You really got a lot to learn
Start living again
Forget about remembering
You're such a stupid girl.

You're such a beautiful fish
Floppin' on the summer sand
Lookin' for the wave you missed
When another one is close at hand
You're such a stupid girl.

You're such a stupid girl.

I saw you in Mercedes Benz
Practicing self-defense
You got it pretty good I guess
I couldn't see your eyes
You're really stupid, girl.

You're such a stupid girl.

General CommentZuma! What an amazing album, does not get anywhere near the attention it deserves, as does most of Neil's stuff.
Anyways, "Stupid Girl" has so much meaning to me. I think it describes a confused young girl who can't forget about her past or can't stop her past from affecting her present. She's confused about who and what she wants, which torments and frustrates the narrator. Out of his frustration she gets called the "stupid girl". That's the way I relate to it.

My InterpretationIt seems to me to be about a girl so caught up in the idea of what she is supposed to be in the eyes of others that she doesn't realize she is fine the way she is.

General CommentI think the "girl," who is wealthy, had a trauma that she can't get over, possibly a rape. The narrator is not sympathetic and makes fun of her paranoia and trauma.
