i see you all the time
i see you in a video
running through my head
i hear that you're a fiend
you love and let nobody know where you go

why didn't you come back to me?
i'll give you whatever you want
turn around on the way out
and you will find
i needed you all the way
now if you don't mind

i never needed anything,
anything but this tonight
i needed you to tell me what was wrong

why didn't you come back to me?
i'll give you whatever you want
turn around on the way out
and you will find
i needed you all the way
now if you don't mind

this is just like everything
i told you he would say
why didn't you just listen
so it didn't end up this way

why didn't you come back to me?
i'll give you whatever you want
turn around and you will find
i needed you all the way
now if you don't mind

why didn't you come back to me?
i'll give you whatever you want
turn around and you will find
i needed you all the way
now if you don't mind

    Ahhh. I love this song.

fiend Audio Help /find/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[feend] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –noun

    1. Satan; the devil.
    2. any evil spirit; demon.
    3. a diabolically cruel or wicked person.
    4. a person or thing that causes mischief or annoyance: Those children are little fiends.
    5. Informal. a person who is extremely addicted to some pernicious habit: an opium fiend.
    6. Informal. a person who is excessively interested in some game, sport, etc.; fan; buff: a bridge fiend.
    7. a person who is highly skilled or gifted in something: a fiend at languages.

I don't think he's referring to the devil here, I believe he's referring to himself being a fiend to her so probably closer to definition #5 instead of being an opium fiend, he's a fiend for this girl's love or lack of.

He's wanting her to come back, and he says "I needed you, I know you needed me." So he wonders why she keeps walking away from him when it's obvious they both need each other. She spends a lot of time on his mind, and he can't seem to escape her although he probably wishes he could.

I think this is a situation every one experiences. The one we need decides to runaway. it sounds like they didnt think the other person appreciated them and thats why they left and the singer is saying "ive always needed you" which is once again I think something everyone goes through.

"i see you all the time i see you in a video running through my head"

I think it's about somebody becoming famous and forgetting about the ones that cared about them before all that crap, even though promising never to forget them.

Then the rest is about how he is angry that she didn't come back to him when she said she would, and that he had always loved and cared for her, before all the fame and whatever, he cared for her always, and she never appreciated that, and then she fell into another relationship with someone who didn't really care for her as a person as much as, well, her stardom. (this is just like everything i told you he would say why wouldn't you just listen so it wouldn't end up this way)

Oh, and I love the Alternate version of this song. The acoustic one. My favorite Cartel song.

I think that this song is about a girl who the writer always thinks about ("i see you in a video running through my head"). He loves her, and he's trying to tell her that he'll treat her better than anyone else.

this is just like everything i told you he would say why wouldn't you just listen so it wouldn't end up this way

How could you leave a guy who says something like that? He wants her back (but I don't really know if he ever had her in the first place... maybe they were just friends?).

Anyways, ellie117, i agree, the alternate (acoustic) version of this song is amazing. Hands down favorite Cartel song.

it's about heartbreak. The girl left the guy, and he's a wreck over it. He just wishes she would come back and care about him like he cares about her.

    Poor guy.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
