"They'll Soon Discover" as written by and James Mercer....
When you were young and wise
Scratching your letters in the sand
And your imagination led you
All around by the hand, la la la

Did you ever wonder
What dizzy adventures there might be?
Unfolding in the currents under the waves
At the bottom of the sea

Well, he's odd but he's got a lot of vision
And his buck teeth, cockeyed smile
Can't stop this invertebrate on a mission
He's in charge

A sinister design
A wild goose chase for a crown
With your eyes aligned
Before they tear apart your town

If you wanna win
Save all of your kin in the ocean
Stay your ground, don't be discouraged
Don't let ?em turn, our brains into porridge

Your odd but you've got a lot of vision
Your buck teeth, stalwart heart
Can't stop this invertebrate on a mission
He's in charge

But it?s a long hard fight
The corner turns
And it?s always another mile

People think day and night
They think they got your number
But they'll soon discover

General CommentOnly The Shins could make a song about a cartoon character and actually make it sound good.

General CommentI was suprised to see the shins on the spongbob soundtrack! I was looking through it because another band I love, ween, had a song featured on the soundtrack. It was a pleasant suprise to see the shins there too.

Anyone know where this song comes from? I thought I had known every shins song they've ever made.. then this one popped up xD Was it made especially for the movie?

    General Comment@Plateau,
I haven't seen the movie, but I think they did make the song just for the movie. I know the movie has something to do with looking for a crown so that Spongebob and Patrick can save their town.

It's under water in the ocean and if memory serves, Patrick and Spongebob both have buck teeth and are invertebrates.

I'm certain they wrote this just for the movie.
