Thunder, rain and lightning
Danger, water rising
Clamor, sirens wailing
It's such a bad sign
Shadows of dark creatures
Steel clouds, floating in the air
People run for shelter
What's gonna happen to us?

All the steps we take
All the moves we make
All the pain at stake
I see the chaos for everyone
Who are we?
What can we do?

You and I are the same in the way that
We have our own styles and we won't change
Yours is filled with evil, and mine is not
There is no way I can lose

Can't hold on much longer
But I will never let go
I know it's a one way track
Tell me now how long this will last
I'm not gonna think this way
Nor will I count on others
Close my eyes and feel them burn
Now I see what I gotta do
Open your heart, it's gonna be alright

Ancient cities blazing
Shadows keep attacking
Little children crying
Confusion, hopeless anger

I don't know why you got me
But you drive me crazy
All your cunning tricks make me sick
You won't have it your own way

Can't hold on much longer
But I will never let go
I know it's a one way track
Tell me now how long this will last
I'm not gonna think this way
Nor will I count on others
Close my eyes and feel them burn
Now I see what I gotta do
Open your heart, and you will see

If it won't stop
There will be no future for us
It's hearts tied down by
All the hate, gotta set it free

I know it's a one way track
Tell me now how long this will last
Close my eyes and feel them burn
Now I see what I gotta do
Gotta open your heart dude!

Can't hold on much longer
But I will never let go
I know it's a one way track
Tell me now how long this will last
I'm not gonna think this way
Nor will I count on others
Close my eyes and feel them burn
Now I see what I gotta do
Open your heart, it's gonna be alright

Open your heart
Open your heart

I'm going to do a typical analysis of this song.

"Thunder, rain and lightning" Obviously, Chaos's storm, coming with his gathering of the Chaos Emeralds.

"Danger, water rising" The flood from the fall of Angel Island.

"Clamour, sirens wailing" The evacuation of Station Square.

"It's such a bad sign" We can tell Chaos has gathered all seven emeralds, even without seeing for ourselves.

"Shadows of dark creatures" Chaos, of course.

"Steel clouds, floating in the air" Eggman's egg carrier.

"People run for shelter" Need I say it?

"What's gonna happen to us?" The confusion, knowing that destruction is coming.

"All the steps we take, All the moves we make; All the pain at stake" What could happen if Sonic fails and Chaos is victorious.

"I see the chaos for everyone. Who are we? What can we do?" Same as the last line, this time acknowledging that they are powerless in the face of perfect chaos.

"You and I are the same in the way that We have our own styles and we won't change. Yours is filled with evil, and mine is not; There is no way I can lose..." Acknowledging that being on the side of good provides a powerful motivation that can not be stopped.

"Can't hold on much longer - But I will never let go" There is no giving up, even when things get tough.

"I know it's a one way track - Tell me now how long this will last" There's only one way to succeed, but it is excruciatingly hard.

"I'm not gonna think this way - Nor will I count on others" Never think you're not strong enough; if you count on others, you admit to not giving it 110%.

"Close my eyes and feel them burn - Now I see what I gotta do" Awakening yourself to the stress, and the situation.

"Open your heart, it's gonna be alright" It's what you've got to keep telling yourself.

"Ancient cities blazing" Referring to the burning of the Master Emerald's altar in the flashbacks throughout the story.

"Shadows keep attacking" Referring to the men of the tribe of Echidnas trying to kill the Chao.

"Little children crying" Tikal, begging her father to show mercy for the Chao.

"Confusion, hopeless anger" The blind rage within Chaos that has turned him against humanity.

"I don't know why you got me But you drive me crazy. All your cunning tricks make me sick; You won't have it your own way" Sonic says to Eggman: 'Why don't you ever give up? You'll never win.'

"If it won't stop, There will be no future for us. It's hearts tied down by All the hate, gotta set it free" Need to calm chaos and end the destruction of the city.

Basically just gives a summary of Sonic Adventure. A very good one, too.

The song has a lot to do with Sonic Adventure, since it was made for that game. The disasters he's singing about are Chaos destroying the city. He's either talking about Eggman or Chaos as the evil person here.

It may also have another meaning about our world in general, just the struggle between good and evil, and how we can't always be on guard - we have to "open our hearts"

Just a note: In the game version of this song, when you fight chaos, he opens with a loud long "Alright!"

A kick-ass save-the-day song for Sonic the Hedgehog. He's fighing someone whose evil and he knows he's fighting with righteousness and heart on his side so he's staying positive.

I think this song (as well as alot of other songs in the Sonic games) would go great on Idol. Vote up on this comment if you would like to see Idol do a Sonic the Hedgehog Night (Glee would also be a good choice; vote up if you agree on this, too).

Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
