"The Deceived" as written by Corey Beaulieu, Paolo Gregoletto, Matthew Heafy and Travis Smith....
Disintegration constituents to decompose of the parts
A malformation utopia systematic unity can't be achieved

Be numb to all the things
That force you to frame

We are the deceived
Lost in the foreseen

To wait for aforementioned dreams time will only
Tell that the promised have been failed
Behold your fellow man through centuries of control
Adhering to the decrees of a manufactured god

General CommentThis song is my favorite track on Ascendancy. To me, it is about how the government underestimates our abilities and about how the president's promises never become realized as he said they would. Therefore, "we are the deceived" in this nation and we live under "a manufactured god" which is the president, our so-called leader.

General Comment"The idea of perfection and utopia brought about by a unified religion or any other system of life is a ludicrous impossibility. It is also a scary thought that people live their lives dependent entirely on upon the principles of a blind faith. It is in our right to break free of helpless conformity."-Matt Heafy. (lead singer)

General CommentI think this song is about the abuse of absolute power over someone. It is obvious that a lot of people think about religion when reading the lyrics, but I think that's not what Matt's aiming for here. I think he is warning us for literal interpretations of religion (extremism) and not all religion. Plus, manufactured god reminds me more of Stalin and Hitler deceiving the people into believing that they were magnificent and very capable leaders, if not gods. He is warning us for blind believes.

General Commentawesome, the lyricism isnt as great as pull harders. but i guess thats why that ones all over headbangers ball and not this one... brilliant song, has almost the same theme as pull harder, just talking about the retarded prsidential figure of the time he wrote the song, .... we ARE the deceived... realize it already and do something about it like trivium has

General Commentfor me this song is about how we are all living under the cosh of religion, and that we need to break free. how we all respect erligion too much, and that it is time we start looking at eachother and asking ourseves if our faith is viable in our moder society

General CommentIf you understand the chorus, it pretty much tells you what this whole song is about.

    "To wait for aforementioned dreams"
    (ex. heaven)
"Time will only tell that the promised have been failed"
(out of all the different religions, only one [if not any] will give the people the reward they are promised)
