"Buried Alive" as written by Greg Wells, Robert Patterson and Otep Shamaya....
[intro]

I speak in verses
Prophecies & curses
....I hate my life.

[verse]

No miracle is coming ....[hate you]
It's just a hole
Nothing's wrong with you
Must maintain control

Everyone's asking questions
No place is safe
I'll forfeit resurrection
To escape the pain

... I hate my life.

[chorus]

I HATE MY LIFE.

[verse]

I speak in verses
Prophecies & curses

This storm of thorns is growing ....[hate me]
There's no end in sight
Chaos claws my jaw
& incites a mental riot

I'm in the mouth of madness
With a tongue of poetry
I ate the spine of Atlas
Now the world is crushing me

.... I hate my life.

[chorus]

I HATE MY LIFE.

[outro]

BURIED ALIVE BEHIND ENEMY LINES
SURROGATE CHILD FOR THE SINS OF ALL MANKIND

HATE!!

BURIED ALIVE BEHIND ENEMY LINES
[buried alive, buried alive]

FOR THE SINS OF ALL MANKIND!

General Commentotep shamaya said in an interview........

Eevery one feels hopeless at least once in their life, some more than others. I needed to write something that would empower me to climb out of the thickness of depression and despair. I needed to write something to scream all the nummbness away."

General CommentIf it means anything to anyone, I was playing this song in my car last night and I found a hidden message:

    Buried
    Alive
    Behind
    Enemy
    Lines

    BABEL

General CommentSimpleAndClean, thanks for pointing that out! I wouldn't have probably noticed that and it really brought new light to this song for me.

I see "Buried Alive Behind Enemy Lines" is simply being born and growing up in an evil empire.

I think this hate she feels and how she spews out nothing but negativity is the result of being born into the sin.

It's not her fault for being born here. Not her fault for all these things she feels. Not her fault for becoming the hate. It's merely what everything is around her.

    BABEL??? I'm confused.

In the Bible, there's a story about people trying to build a tower called the Tower of Babel that would reach all the way up to Heaven. By doing this, they were defying God, so God caused everyone to start speaking different languages. No one could understand each other because each person had their own language.

General CommentThis song is absolutely brilliant. The mood, the lyrics, the vocals, instruments... It's what got me hooked on Otep. Fantastic.
