It's alright, I'm just a girl she said
Talk down to me & take me to bed
I don't feel I don't think
And I don't really matter at all
Kiss me in darkness turn out the light
Pretend you're with someone else tonight
You don't feel you don't think
And I don't really understand why

I'm a person who speaks I'm a person who thinks
But you hope I'll forget as you ply me with drinks
And you cannot buy me and you cannot use me
But I know that you'll want to try.

It's alright, I'm just a girl she said
You can't buy me and take me to bed
Because I think
Because I feel
And you don't really matter at all

I'm a person who speaks I'm a person who thinks
But you hope I'll forget as you ply me with drinks
And you cannot buy me and you cannot use me
But I know that you'll want to try.

Don't look in my eyes you may be surprised
To find I have answers to your questions why
Because I have no feelings or thoughts of my own
But I know that you want to try
It's alright i'm just a girl she said
Talk down to me and take me to bed
I don't think I dont feel and I dont really matter at all
I'm a person who speaks and a person who thinks
But you hope I'll forget as you ply me with drink
You cannot buy me and you cannot use me
But I know that you want to try

Just a girl she said
Just a girl she said
(I know that you want to try)
Just a girl she said
Just a girl she said
(I know that you want to try)
Just a girl she said
Just a girl she said
Just a girl she said
Just a girl she said
(I know that you want to try)
Just a girl she said
Just a girl she said
Just a girl she said
Just a girl she said

General Commenti think this song is fantastically written and beautifully preformed. it's a song saying that the girl is more than "just a girl", she has feelings and thoughts of her own and can't be used by sleazy men - she's not just a clone of other girls. it's an inspirational song and i love it!!

General CommentIt's not really the feminist anthem the lyrics suggest...there's no anger here, just a sadness that any potential in their relationship, any communication or trust, has to be sacrificed because all the guy wants is sex (which, incidentally, isn't going to happen).

It's a beautiful, gentle song, played in a lilting waltz time. And as ever, Sarah Blackwood's voice could charm the birds from the trees.
