This horseless carriage leads me home. My hands remain folded. My life remains a sunday. Brick by brick i built this staircase. Brick by brick i walk on. Situated just below the ground and just above your head. Throw your roses, throw your tears down. If we don't meet (again) this side of heaven, make sure you're right. Stutter

General CommentThe picture I get from this is a of a man, much like myself not too long ago, driving home after having his heart broken. He may have thought she loved him too, only to find out that she didn't feel the same. And when that knowledge came out, she didn't want to remain in contact.

Wow. sounds familiar to my life. whatever, won't go into it. But man, those last lines stick with me:

"If we dont' meet (again) this side of heaven, make sure you're right. Stutter."

are you happy with your choice, Green Eyes?

General Commentim not too sure this is a break up song. it doesn't seem right.
be kinda cool if it was though.
and if it is, i get what they mean by "my life remains a sunday," because my girlfriend broke up with me on a sunday (ironically), so it always feels like that stupid pain of that sunday.

General Commenti read it a few times, and here's what i got.

this dude lived his life out as a christian. and he was legit all the the way through. but, the dude died. ("my life reamains a sunday.")
he built his life up and up, (staircase).
he's buried under the ground, but he's in heaven.
throw your roses, throw your tears: funeral service.
the people that didn't listen to what he had to say about faith, make sure you're right.
and when it comes down to it, those people will stutter: "well, maybe he is right."

General Commentone: josh is married, so this isn't a break up song.
    two: josh is a christian.
three: "My life remains a sunday." He is always worshiping.
four:"Brick by brick" He's constantly building towards the end, towards heaven.("Staircase")
five: "Situated just below the ground" Speaking of the devil.. "and just above your head." Speaking of God.
six: The rest of the song is Josh saying if we don't meet in heaven, then you didn't listen.

    General CommentIMO,
Horseless carriage: death, a la Elijah
Folded hands: Calm and not caught unawares

uh... I basically agree with alexespo and slithalfwaydown.

General CommentJust because Josh is married has nothing to do with what he writes songs about. Anyone can write a song about anything. He could be writing about something that happened to his friend, or someone close. It's not always a huge, deep, buried way down in the ground meaning guys... Songs can be simple.
