What you see's not what you get
With you there's just no measurement
No way to tell what's real from what isn't there

Your eyes they sparkled
That's all changed into lies that drop like acid rain
You washed away the best of me
You don't care
You know you did it

I'm gone
To find someone to live for in this world
There's no light at the end of the tunnel tonight
Just a bridge that I gotta burn
You are wrong
If you think you can walk right through my door
That is just so you
Coming back when I've finally moved on
I'm already gone

Sometimes shattered
Never open
Nothing matters
When you're broken
That was me whenever I was with you

Always ending, always over
Back and forth, up and down, like a roller coaster
I am breaking that habit today
You know you did it

I'm gone
To find someone to live for in this world
There's no light at the end of the tunnel tonight
Just a bridge that I gotta burn
You are wrong
If you think you can walk right through my door
That is just so you
Coming back when I've finally moved on
I'm already gone

There is nothing you can say
Sorry doesn't cut it babe
Take the hit and walk away
'Cause I'm gone

Doesn't matter what you do
It's what you did that's hurting you
All I needed was the truth
Now I'm gone

What you see's not what you get
What you see's not what you get
You know you did it

I'm gone
To find someone to live for in this world
There's no light at the end of the tunnel tonight
Just a bridge that I gotta burn
You are wrong
If you think you can walk right through my door
That is just so you
Coming back when I've finally moved on
I'm already gone
I'm already gone
So I'm already gone gone gone
So I'm gone
I'm gone

To me, this song means that the girl found out her boyfriend was cheating on her and she got over him right away and moved on but it seemed like he wanted her back. When she sings, 'What you see is not what you get' probably means that he thought she was a girl who can get their love back easy but, she's a strong, tough girl who moves on quickly. Nothing can stop her lol.

I think that 'What you see is not what you get' is a line stating that maybe he thought that he could take advantage of her, and lured her to be his girlfriend. He realized that she wasn't weak and that she wasn't worth even trying so he broke up with her. She pushed him away alot even though he 'tried' to make up for it. He kind of fauxed his way in the breakup so she wouldn't realize it...

    Toodles.

i love this song. reminds me of my last relationship. i found out the guy was cheating on me and broke up with him. A week later he was callin me askin if we could hang out, i figured it was only fair,we could talk things out. he tried getting me back and usually id give in because well i guess im just emotionally weak like that? and he knew that, so i guess he figured that id say yes in a heartbeat....... i guess what you sees not what you get? hahaha grrrreat song.

I really like this song and i agree that it could be about sheating, but it doesnt necessarily have to be just that the guy was lying to her and im thinking maybe using her in some way and thenhe dumped her, but now shes finally ready to move on and he comes crawling back. I really love the line "theres no light at the end of the tunnel tonight, just a bridge that i gotta burn" its kind of like saying either way she wont be incredibly happy, there wont be any light, but she has to get away from this guy and eventually she will be good.

when she says "What you see is not what you get" I think she's referring to the guy as being good-looking, who seems sincere, but basically just talks a good game.

"With you there's just no measurement no way to tell what's real from what isn't there You're eyes they sparkle That's all changed since the lies that dropped like acid rain"

Once she figures out that there is more to him than meets the eye, and that their relationship is based on him lying to her, she knows that it's time to leave. But still, she feels "broken," or taken advantage of, and wants him to know that she's not going to fall for him again.

"There is nothing you can say Sorry doesn't cut it, babe Take the hint and walk away cause i'm gone Doesn't matter what you do It's what you did that's hurting you All I needed was the truth Now I'm gone."

i agree with lc52872. also the lines "there's no light at the end of the tunnel tonight, just a bridge that i gotta burn" could mean that this time she's ending the relationship for good, there's no turning back because she's burning the bridge that leads back to him. Maybe he's trying to make her feel guilty (doesn't matter what you do) but she's not falling for it this time (it's what YOU did that's hurting you)

Its about her boyfriend messing her about, and now hes pushed her too far he keeps saying sorry but shes heard it too many times and things never change. So now shes saying that shes getting over him and moving on to find someone who will treat her right. i made this my msn name after a boy did the exact same thing to me, and he really took it in. awesome song

Hm. I really thought Kelly Clarkson was more than overrated until my little sister played this song. It's an addictive song, that's easy to say.

Obviously, it's about a lover telling lies and the person being lied to is sick of it and just ends their relationship. She's sick of him lying to her and hurting her, then asking for her to accept his apology. A person can only take so much abuse, no?

The Kelly Clarkson version of "I Will Survive." All right, not a very deep interpretation. But I LOVE this song. It's my fourth favorite song by her. Pretty high, considering that she's my favorite singer (my favorite band is Evanescence, though)

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
