"matinee" as written by and Damien Jurado....
We all cried at the ending
We all stayed for the credits
And I kept my ticket as a souvenir

Found our way by the usher's light
To a place outside, parked the bikes
Underneath a neon sign

Matinee
Why go late when the movies
Are cheaper during the day

We come down about twice a week
To put our feet on theater seats
Admission's cheap and the soda's free

Well my best friend's girl works the ticket stand
The boss is gone, she gets us in
We all see a matinee

Matinee
Why go late when the movies
Are cheaper during the day

We all cried at the ending
We all stayed for the credits
And I kept my ticket as a souvenir

Well my best friend's girl works the ticket stand
The boss is gone, she gets us in
We all see a matinee

Matinee
Why go late when the movies
Are cheaper during the day

General CommentI love how his music is so beautiful, yet he writes such simple lyrics.

General CommentNothing much to explain here, it's about him and his friend sneeking into a matinee.

General CommentBoth commentaries before this one are right. Damien Jurado writes about the day to day things we do. He is showing us that beauty is not in diamonds, or in the mall, or in shiny things, beauty is in other places, the simple ones, the ones that people have been forgetting nowadays.
