"No One On Earth (Vocals by Zoe Johnston)" as written by and Jonathan David Grant Anthony Patrick James Mcguinness....
Down through the dark trees
You came to save me
You're so ugly and you're so beautiful
You're like no one on Earth could be

Take me home
Let me be the one

All of my life I've been waiting
For you
I wanna be the one that you take home
Let me be the one
Cause I'm so lonely

Take me home
With you
No one on Earth knows me like you do
Take me home
In time you'll love me like one of your own
So come on

Take me home
With you
No one on Earth knows me like you do
Take me home
In time you'll love me like one of your own
So come on

Take, take me home
With you
No one on Earth knows me like you do
La la la la, I'm going home

General CommentAn, Alien is highly unlikely but hey you never know.
    -------------------

    "Down through the dark trees"
The women that she is singing about is covered by some deep dark depression. Wether it be a secret or a mental illness its somthing that has covered her world.

"You came to save me" (str8 fwd)

"You're so ugly and you're so beautiful"
The person who saves her has ugly things about them as well, but they are so beautiful for what they have inside of them. There is somthing there to stive for and morph into a beautiful butterfly.

"You're like no one on Earth could be"
    str8 foward again

"No one on Earth knows me like you do"
The savior knows the worst about this women yet he is still there. He is still by her side.

"In time you'll love me like one of your own"
Not sure about this line, but I would infer that it takes time to love someone. We all learn/grow to love someone, becuase with love is trust. In time the savior will love her even though she has this dark forest over her head, because he loves her she will eventually become one of his own. Maybe marriage in the sense that they will be united and together as one.

General CommentIt's definitely metaphorical... the girl is relating the absurdity of an alien abduction to the normality of a guy sweeping her off her feet.

General CommentI think that it's a meta-metaphor. That is, it's about an alien, but that's a metaphor simply for being loved by someone so different from the norm, a stranger in a strange land, so to speak. The whole reason I get the alien image is "in time you'll love me like one of your own" implying that there are others like him somewhere, maybe.

General Commentyes, it's about falling for someone unlikely, someone different from you, and the incredible desire to be part of their world. NOT aliens. lol

General CommentOne of my favorites from them without a doubt. I agree mostly, except for the whole alien thing. Definitely not. I'd rather think that if she was in fact speaking of some inhuman creature it'd be a vampire or something.

Completely stupid, I know, but it beats aliens.

General CommentIn the actual album booklet, it says that the song is about a girl who's in love with an alien. After reading the lyrics over and over again, it makes sense.

    for example..think about this line...

"In time you'll love me like one of your own"

General CommentI always thought it was about an orphan girl looking for a family...but yeah, falling in love with an alien fits better...

General Commentwell, i've listened to above & beyond for years now.

My own perception on this song seems to be almost a spiritual entity, or an extraterrestrial being that's ugly in the physical being but absolute beauty internally.

the reason i say it could be a spiritual entity is the fact "it" knows her better than anybody on earth, because she's obviously lonely due to her perspective that there's no human that can interact with her mentally in which she strives.

That's my view, but i think that's the underground view on it. obviously the mainstream will believe it's a simply alien abduction, but i don't think a&b is that simple ;)
