This is a brand new problem, a problem without any clues
If you know the clues, it's easy to get through

But you look confused and you don't know what to do
It's hard to get an answer when you haven't got a clue
If you work it out, tell me what you find

If the least you can do is show some restraint
Then the most you can do is get carried away (carried away, carried away)

I can see that you look confused and you don't know what to do
Say what you see, what you like
If you work it out, tell me what you find
We can have a few decent days and nights

If you're meant to be here and you want to be late
The best thing you can do is get lost on the way (lost on the way, lost on the way)

I can see that you look confused and you don't know what to do
Say what you see, what you like
If you work it out, tell me what you find
We can have a few decent days and nights

We can have a few
We can have a few
We can have a few decent days and nights
We can have a few
We can have a few
We can have a few decent days and nights

If you want to make a guess, you should know it's not a game
'Cause you'll never get another chance to make a guess again
(Make a guess again, make a guess again)

This is a brand new problem, a problem without any clues
If you know the clues it's easy to get through

But you look confused and you don't know what to do
It's hard to get an answer if you haven't got a clue
If you want to make a guess, then you should know it's not a game
Never get another chance to make a guess again
If you work it out, tell me what you find (hoo)

This song is awesome! I can't believe no one's commented on it already. The Futureheads songs are so tasty...

It doesn't have that many replies because the lyrics are... unspetacular, to be kind.

"This is a brand new problem A problem without any clues If you know the clues It's easy to get through "

The fact that they overcome some horrible lyrics (come to think of it, it might be part of their sound, the plainness of the lyrics) makes the other facets of their songs that much more incredible.

yeah..this song..eh. it's not their best. not their best by far. but, i think it is about someone being at some type of party, and realizing that you don't have any friends. so you try to make a friend by " If you want to make a guess and you know it's not a game 'Cause you'll never get another chance to make a guess again" this is like trying to make a friend, only to make an ass out of yourself.. and then you get a reputation as an idiot. it's just my guess, and the futureheads seem to follow the "we are all losers" pattern. so their songs are easy to connect with.

I love this song (especially the singer's Sunderland accent) but have to agree that there isn't really much to the lyrics. Ah well...doesn't stop me jumping around like a maniac when it comes on!

i think This is a brand new problem A problem without any clues If you know the clues It's easy to get through But you look confused and you don't know what to do It's hard to get an answer if you haven't got a clue

i think this is about confronting and being scared of death as with all problems other people have gone throught them which are "clues" but their are no real clues for death.

If you work it out tell me what you find We can have a few decent days and nights

Here i think hes telling people if anyone can figure out death to tell him and he can be peaceful.

If you want to make a guess and you know it's not a game 'Cause you'll never get another chance to make a guess again

this i think means dont think life is just a game cause you only get one chance!

I always thought this was another relationship song. The singer is in a rocky relationship with somebody who's confused and doesn't know what to do. He tells her to go figure her shit out, and if she can do that, they can get back together and things can be decent between them:

"If you work it out, tell me what you find We can have a few decent days and night"

Well, that's what I always thought, anyway. All the lyrics can be interpreted to support this view if you think about it.

Fun song. Reminds me of House.

Though I watch altogether too much House.

Good lord, is it Tuesday yet?

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
