"A Certain Slant Of Light" as written by and Jeffrey Scott/chatwood Martin....
As the colors fade away my love,
As the darkness turns to day above,
Celebrate the one you love.

And she says she has a friend inside.
Shows her everything she tries to hide
Please stop the pain inside

She don't know.
Please stop her pain.
I think she's coming down again,
I hear the rain.
She's coming down again,
I hear the rain.

And she's dancing with the hands of fate,
While she's sleeping with the one she hates,
And tonight they celebrate.

She don't know.
Please stop her pain, stop her pain.
I think she's coming down again,
I hear the rain.
She's coming down again,
I hear the rain.
And the rain still falls.
It's falling down on me.

She don't know,
Please stop her pain, stop her pain.
I think she's coming down again,
I hear the rain.
She's coming down again,
I hear the rain.

General CommentFirst off, the name derives from the first line of an Emily Dickinson poem. Since I spent over a month analyzing it for a paper this year, I can safely tell you the poem is about death and eternity.
    Anyway.
I used to listen to this song on repeat when I was younger and ball my eyes out. (I was emo back then, heh)
I'm amazed no one has posted anything on it since it is one of Tea Party's most beautiful songs. Thankfully, this one is rather simplistic. On the one hand you get this impression of a drug addict who wants so badly to get out of her habit. On the other hand you've got all-encompassing depression. Tada.
I'm desperately disappointed that after over ten years of being together these guys have broken up.

General Commenti had no idea that this song was based on a poem. thanks for sharing that. jeff martin's voice is so expressive in this song, its hard not to want to cry your eyes out.

General CommentSuicide? After reading Mirandah's post, and then going back over it, perhaps the girl hates herself (she's sleeping with the one she hates) and wants to be done with it. "and tonight they celebrate" could mean that the person she is and the person who she hates will finally part???
