This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
And this week's the trend
Was to not wake up till 3 p.m.
I picked the few conscious hours that I chose to spend
And slept away the rest of them
And this week the trend
Was to crash and burn and then return again
To practice the life that I pretend
Provides enough to get me through the weekend
So I say
Get me a solution and watch me run with it
And then You gave
You gave me a solution what have I done with it?
'Cause I was absolutely sure
I had it all figured out way back then
And now it's this minute, this hour, this day
And this week the trend
Was to backstab every single one of my friends
And leave a voicemail message trying to make amends
All the while hoping things work out in the end
And this week's the trend
Was to borrow all the strength that You could lend
To keep my head above the water and not descend
Back to where I said I'd never go again
So I say
Give me a solution and watch me run with it
And then You gave
You gave me a solution what have I done with it?
'Cause I was absolutely sure
I had it all figured out way back then
But after this day it's this week
All over again
And I just want to get mugged at knifepoint
To get cut enough to wake me up
'Cause I know that I don't want to die
Sitting around watching my life go by
And what we take from this is what we'll get
And we haven't quite figured it out just yet
Because all of us are all too stuck
Strapped to a chair watching our lives blow up
Stuck watching our lives blow up
Was to not wake up till 3 p.m.
I picked the few conscious hours that I chose to spend
And slept away the rest of them
And this week the trend
Was to crash and burn and then return again
To practice the life that I pretend
Provides enough to get me through the weekend
So I say
Get me a solution and watch me run with it

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
Blue
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
I love the "i just wanna get mugged at knife point..." even though most of my friends don't get it... it's just about realising that you need something huge to shake your life around.

maybe it doesnt coincide with others opnions but thats my take on it.:)
ehhhh not one of their best songs on the new cd...
this song is amazing took me a while to like it but now its my fav. on the new cd i think its about this kid that always screws up and stuff and hates his life so he turns to god to help him or something religious like that
I like this song, and I'd say it's slowly becoming one of my favorites. I love the last line and how it builds up, "Stuck watching our lives blow up." Anyway, as far as what it means, I think it's talking how this guy's so caught up in the moment and what seems right at the time, but in the end, realizes that he needs a wake up call. God had showed him the right way, but he chose to ignore it, thinking he could figure things out his own way, but then realized that his own way doesn't work at all.
I LOVE this song. The best part is the end when he's talking about his life.
basically it's talking about how people (especially teens) have trends that everyone HAS to do unless they're made fun of for it. I can say this, because I am teen and I live in that world.
i love this song, this relates to my life before i accepted jesus. i thought my life was fine the way it was and i didnt care. i think alot of the "trends" are funny because it actually seems like in our life now if someone "popular" did one of those i wouldnt be suprised if everyone followed...
This song isnt my favorite on this CD, but it could easily become my favorite as my mood changes. I like the 'I just want to get mugged at knifepoint to get cut enough to wake me up cause I know that I dont want to die' part. Ever need a change? Something like that can totally change everything. Sometimes all it takes to start appreciating things again is to almost lose them.
i l.o.v.e. this song! i dont think it has the greatest sound, but one day it hit me what the words really mean.. and i can apply them so much to my life! its about how sometimes we just live, i mean somedays i feel like im not even really here, i just go doing my regular schedule and forget about God....i just ignore Him. but as i listened to this song one day, it just hit me, this is what i need. i need God to slap me on the face, wake me up, and get me to live like i should be and stop procrastinating and watching my life pass by. i think this is what they were really trying get at.
