If it keeps on raining, levee's going to break
If it keeps on raining, levee's going to break
And the water gonna come in, have no place to stay

Well all last night I sat on the levee and moan
Well all last night I sat on the levee and moan
Thinking about my baby and my happy home

If it keeps on raining, levee's going to break
If it keeps on raining, levee's going to break
And all these people have no place to stay

Now look here mama what am I to do?
Now look here mama what am I to do?
I ain't got nobody to tell my troubles to

I works on the levee mama both night and day
I works on the levee mama both night and day
I ain't got nobody, keep the water away

Oh crying won't help you, praying won't do no good
Oh crying won't help you, praying won't do no good
When the levee breaks, mama, you got to lose

I works on the levee, mama both night and day
I works on the levee, mama both night and day
I works so hard, to keep the water away

I had a woman, she wouldn't do for me
I had a woman, she wouldn't do for me
I'm going back to my used to be

It's a mean old levee, cause me to weep and moan
It's a mean old levee, cause me to weep and moan
Gonna leave my baby, and my happy home

When I first heard about this cd I was disappointed that it was predominately covers. But when you realize... APC doesn't do covers, they MAKE their own songs with existing ones. It's truley incredibly, and I think to not only convey someone elses message, but to also convey your interpertation well is brilliant.

“When the levee breaks” is the point of no return. When it does happen you can sit back and relax and watch how things have gone to shit, because anything that could’ve or should’ve been done doesn’t matter anymore because the levees have broken. Quite simple really!

But I think this song is being sung from higher grounds, from above the flood waters, in a kindeh “I told you so” tone … anyhow once again we have all been warned!

APC is one of the only bands who are able to take a song, do a cover, but also call it their own. They can take a old song, put a new beat to it, put a different emotion behind it, then it transforms into an APC song. Very intelligent band they are. I can't wait to hear their fourth album. If and when they create it. Tool is still pretty awesome too. A band where their creativity is beyond any other bands.

Keep this music alive, support APC, Tool, & Puscifer

It's still 5 and a half minutes long... they repeat the lines like crazy. As far as I can tell, that's all the whole song (other than the repeats). Let me know if you think there's anything else, and I'll change it.

Okay this is NOT A LED ZEPPELIN COVER. It is a cover of Memphis Minnie's "When the Levee Breaks" from 1929. Zeppelin also did a cover of it. The song is about America.

This whole album is a bunch of covers. One of the biggest reasons that I didnt buy it.

I myself am not particularly fond of covers, but I still think you ought to get this one. I think it's part of the point, that we've been singing about these things for sometime now.

I LOVE apc, but this has to be their worst song ever. I'm a huge zep fan, and zep has done a lot of covers. When zep covered it though, it was much longer, and then they slowed it down and layed vocals over it, which gave it that sound.

I do love the album, this song is the only one i hate. i think the vocals suck, and the music is completely uninspired. APC could have done SO much better.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
