Let's seal this greeting with the passion from a razor's kiss.
Compassion, a virtue never synonymous with this name.
Now my gaze pierces two sets of somber eyes,
Of which only dreams had brought in yesteryear.
My misery, my bane, and my envy personified.
I will take everything from you.

I will replicate an assembled heart, forged from your collective agony,
And I will tear away until there are but two beating hearts before me.
I will tear away, for my greatest triumph lies in the:
Fear, loathing, resentment, and spite
Will scourge them both for the rest of their wretched days.

If I want to get all emo about this song (as heavy as it is) here it is.

This song is about being dumped for somebody else and you're just so torn up about the idea of someone you love being with somebody else that you would rather see them both dead. Taking their lives because of your misery and being happy of the fact that you did.

    Song Meaning
    1. No one guessed the right meaning, however it's clear most barely understood the lyrics when they were 16 and trying to find 'meaning in their life'.

This song is about watching someone you were with leave you for another person whom you cared for. They both betrayed you; And you wish them both to burn in the eternal flames.

"Let's seal this greeting with the passion from a razor's kiss." Simpleton terms; They care so little about him that kissing a razor would be more satisfying than with the woman (or man) whom he (or she) loved.

"Compassion, a virtue never synonymous with this name." The person lacks compassion; Empathy, the ability to understand why it hurt's them the way it does.

"Now my gaze pierces two sets of somber eyes," "Of which only dreams had brought in yesteryear." Looking into the eyes of their now past friend and their past lover, which only dreams can bring nostalgia back without experiencing the pain of current day.

"My misery, my bane, and my envy personified." "I will take everything from you." They will bring their feelings to life, and take everything that 'those people' took from them, away from them in spite.

"I will replicate an assembled heart, forged from your collective agony," They'll figuratively put together the two 'hearts' of the couple based along the lines of how much they hurt the writer.

"And I will tear away until there are but two beating hearts before me." He'll then shred the collective singular manifestation of a figurative heart into 'two' separate figurative pieces, of which were created by the amount of pain of which the writer experienced.

"I will tear away, for my greatest triumph lies in the:" Fear, loathing, resentment, and spite" Explaining what they accomplished by betraying (the writer). The fear of others doing the same to (the writer), loathing of which of those two, the resentment of the two, and the spite of which (the writer) feels of this sort of act.

"Will scourge them both for the rest of their wretched days." (The writer) will forever hold a grudge and punish them for what they did to (the writer) for the rest of their days.

It's actually not a hard one to understand, but it certainly has a place in a lot of peoples hearts. Watching your significant other fall for someone you considered a friend, only to notice it happening. Deny it, or confront and get it denied. For them to then abruptly leave you, and blame it on you. That sort of pain doesn't just sting, it lingers and manifests the worst kind of emotions out of you. The song itself (musically) doesn't fit with the lyrics, but it does reflect upon that persons emotional state during this entire album.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
