"A Man and a Woman" as written by and Dave Evans Larry Mullen....
Little sister don't you worry about a thing today
Take the heat from the sun
Little sister
I know that everything is not ok
But you're like honey on my tongue

True love never can be rent
But only true love can keep beauty innocent

I could never take a chance
Of losing love to find romance
In the mysterious distance
Between a man and a woman
No I could never take a chance
'Cause I could never understand
The mysterious distance
Between a man and a woman

You can run from love
And if it's really love it will find you
Catch you by the heel
But you can't be numb for love
The only pain is to feel nothing at all
How can I hurt when I'm holding you?

I could never take a chance
Of losing love to find romance
In the mysterious distance
Between a man and a woman

And you're the one, there's no-one else
You make me want to lose myself
In the mysterious distance
Between a man and a woman

Brown eyed girl across the street
On rue Saint Divine
I thought this is the one for me
But she was already mine
You were already mine...

Little sister
I've been sleeping in the street again
Like a stray dog
Little sister
I've been trying to feel complete again
But you're gone and so is God

The soul needs beauty for a soul mate
When the soul wants...the soul waits ...

No I could never take a chance
Of losing love to find romance
In the mysterious distance
Between a man and a woman

For love and sex and faith and fear
And all the things that keep us here
In the mysterious distance
Between a man and a woman

How can I hurt when I'm holding you?

General CommentWell, since I have "strong feelings" for my wife's sister-- and I know that I'll never be able to do anything about it-- this song takes on a special meaning for me.

General CommentI think this song is about someone who is deeply in love with another person but can't say or show how they feel because he/she doesn't want to ruin the friendship. It's a song about love and fear .. as Bobo says "For love and faith and sex and fear". It sounds like that person just doesn;t wan't to take a chance and losing the love of his/her life by exposing how they really feel for the other person.

General CommentI think this song is about a man who is reaffirming love after facing temptation. When he says "I could never take a chance of loving love" (a relationship), "to find romance" (a flirtation).

General CommentI re-read my comment (which I now regret) at least 4 times. There are 32 words, none of which is the word "love". I appreciate the comments, but do not misunderstand me. I simply have "feelings" that I will never express. I acknowlege that those "feelings" would probably turn into something more- under the right circumstances- but an extrordinarily unlikely set of events would have to unfold- and I just don't think it'll ever happen. It's a shame that "what could have been" has the power to haunt me. It's an even bigger shame that I brought that to this place.

General CommentYou only think it haunts you bill, because you're allowing it to.

Anyway that wasn't what I came to say. I don't understand why MORE people haven't remarked on how uterly beautiful this song is. I'm not a big fan of U2 but my brother is (you might find him floating around here somewhere) and he has almost all the albums so I do listen to them but normally only the mainstream songs or typically popular ones (ie One, Beautiful Day) but this song just LEAPED off the latest album. It's utterly beautiful.

I especially love the lyrics "But you can’t be numb for love
The only pain is to feel nothing at all"
