I remember wasting time
Watching as the planes fly by
I remember hearing the engines echoing through the sky

And they used to say
That someday you'll forget it, you won't hear them
And they used to say
That time goes by but nothing changes

I won't miss my flight again
I'm not where I belong
So give me just one chance
And one by one I'll prove you wrong
One by one I'll prove you wrong

I remember every night
Sitting by the runway side
I remember waiting for a reason to say goodbye

And they used to say
That someday you'll forget it, you won't hear them
And they used to say
The day goes by but you can't change it

I won't miss my flight again
I'm not where I belong
So give me just one chance
And one by one I'll prove you wrong
One by one I'll prove you wrong

Sometimes I think I've been wrong
But this is the place that I think I belong
And every time I speak my mind, I'm leaving you behind

And I won't miss my flight again
I'm not where I belong
So give me just one chance
And one by one I'll prove you wrong

I won't miss my flight again
I'm not where I belong
So give me just one chance
And one by one I'll prove you wrong
One by one I'll prove you wrong
One by one I'll prove you wrong
One by one I'll prove you wrong

We are the ones (Whoever the person is) The ones forgotten (Forgotten by their parents) And this time (Now they are older) The future is ours (Their generation is the future) It’s in our hands (Their generation)

We’re the tear in your eyes (Parents cry after the birth of a baby, or after they find out they are having a child) We’re the blood in your veins (Parents are blood relation to their children) We’re the beat of your heart (Children touch the parents heart everyday)

We’re the sweat on your face (As toddlers parents get a workout once they learn how to walk and talk) We’re the ones that you chased (Again after the child learns how to walk parents chase them around the house) We’re the promise that you made (Parents always make a silent promise to themselves about what they will do as a parent)

We’re the voice in head your head (Forced to think about what is best for the children, children are the voice in the back of their head) We’re the lies that you said (This child believes that the parent abandoned them therefore did not keep their promise) We’re the kids that you pushed away (Abandoned their child) We are…

We are the ones (The children) The ones forgotten (Forgotten by their parents) And this time (Now) The future is ours (They are the future for their own generation) It’s in our hands We are one (They are all together)

We’re the pride of your lives (Parents are proud of their children) We’re the light shining deep in your eyes (Parents have a twinkle in their eyes as they watch their children grow) We’re the choice that you made (The parents choose to keep/raise the child) We’re the smile on your face when you sleep at night (Parents often think about their children and smile)

We’re the best thing you had (Tried to be what they wanted) But you left us behind (Still they were pushed away) We’re the kids that you pushed away We are…

We are the ones The ones forgotten And this time The future is ours It’s in our hands We are one One…

We’re the pain that you feel (As a teenager, rebelious they cause the parents pain for neglecting them) We’re the scars that don’t heal (They leave permanent scars with the parents) We’re the tear in your eyes (They are crying because they failed not because they are proud/happy now) We’re the reason you cry (Cause the parents to cry)

We’re the voice in head your head We’re the lies that you said We’re the best think you had but you pushed us away

We are the ones The ones forgotten And this time The future is ours It’s in our hands We are one One…

We are the ones The ones forgotten And we've got Nothing to lose Together we stand up tall (The entire generation is in charge of changing the future) We are one

Basically it is about how a child is raised and how it will affect how they treat the parents later on in life.

*Also there is a few messed up lyrics feet (Should be BEAT) are (Should be WE'VE GOT)

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
