I'm in Minnesota again for the winter
I'm in Minnesota again for the winter

I didn't come for ice fishin', I didn't come for duck huntin'
I'm not Scandinavian or in search of Paul Bunyan

I came for the taper
I came for the tapeworm
well, I came to get better

I'm in Minnesota again for the winter
The thought of ten thousand lakes makes me feel smaller

I didn't come for ice fishin', I didn't come for duck huntin'
I'm not Scandinavian or in search of Paul Bunyan
I'm no fan of the vikings or sub-zero windchills
or drifts bigger than buildings or running on treadmills
but I'm optimistic, but I'm off to Mystic
cause I'm feelin lucky

I'm in Minnesota again for the winter
The thought of ten thousand lakes makes me feel smaller
The thought of ten thousand lakes makes me feel...
Well, it makes me feel weaker

General CommentI wrote this while I was at the state hospital in Wilmar, Minnesota. Good times. If tapeworm is really slang for heroin habit then this is news to me. I think it should be but to my knowledge it isn't.

General CommentI'm from Minnesota. It's really depressing in the winter time, even worse if you were a recovering drug addict obviously...

General CommentI haven't found any specific references to Heroin and this song, although lurline is probably correct.

General CommentHe "came for the tapeworm", which is a slang term specific to heroin users to refer to their habit.

My favorite lines are the "I'm optimistic, I'm off to Mystic cause I'm feeling lucky", which is Mystic Lake Casino. It sounds so good and is so clever. I love that part.
