Saturday
I could feel the crowd's dismay
They've acquired quite a fire
To burn the profane on a funeral pyre
Voices shrill
Cutting silence like they mean to kill
Some pep rally where we scream His name
Like God was losing in a football game

I don't want to waste His name this time
I will never cast him to the swine
Grasping at some feeling you once knew
Is nothing sacred ever safe with you?

Silver tongues
All the spirit of an iron lung
Selling highs as if we needed one
Flash the lights so not to be outdone
Counterfeit
Wanting joy so much we take a hit
Like a tapeworm deep in hunger digs
Waste the sacred
Just to feed these pigs

If this is real, then you must find it
Between the space of grace and grim
It's nothing you can manufacture
Your walls cannot contain Him

General CommentI dont know if i'm anywhere near what was meant by reese when he wrote this. But I think it's basically saying that people try to contain God, and they proclaim him like christianity is going out of style. But in reality he means nothing to them. thats my opinion.

General CommentI believe this song is about the stereotypical Christian preacher. Like the ones on TV, always asking people for money, etc, and how at once they may have felt something real and spiritual in Christianity - "Grasping at some feeling you once knew" - But later, are just in it for all the wrong reasons

General CommentYeah constip8d, it's like what you said, they don't want to seek God any more, and that try to manufacture the Him. That's pretty much all I understand about this song, but I'm sure there's much more to it.

General CommentAll right, I busted out my dictionary and here's what I found. I think the pigs in this song refer to the unGodly people in this world, the people who are take God out of everything in this world. In the song It says "I don't want to waste His name this time
I will never cast him to the swine", it means that he has given in at one time or another to these people and he regrets it. And the second part is like what I said before, people lose faith in God and they try to manufacture this God in there mind and they don't really know Him, because they lose their want to know Him.

General CommentSo that's how that double thing happens. Don't go back or it will double what you said.

General Commenti kno what im sayin doesnt really match up with what you all say but i think its about ppl who are christians but kind of stagnant in their walk. we call them spiritual brats at my church...they want all the attn. and they get what they want. thats why rheese talks all about the lights and making it a show so as not to be outdone. its about ppl who sing empty praises just to be heard...they dont mean what they say. but then they find themselves at fault and correct themselves they wanna make it meaningful again..."I don't want to waste His name this time
I will never cast him to the swine
Grasping at some feeling you once knew
Is nothing sacred ever safe with you?" like they used to mean it and it was amazing when they first got saved and then they lost the meaning and they want it back.
