@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
Mother, mother
There's too many of you crying
Brother, brother
Far too many of you dying
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today, yeah
Father, father
We don't need to escalate
War is not the answer
Only love can conquer hate
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today
Picket lines and picket signs
Don't punish me with brutality
Talk to me, so you can see
What's going on
What's going on
What's going on
What's going on
Father, father
Everybody thinks we're wrong
But who are they to judge us
Simply 'cause our hair is long
You know we've got to find a way
To bring understanding here today
Picket lines and picket signs
Don't punish me with brutality
Talk to me, so you can see
What's going on
What's going on
What's going on
What's going on
There's too many of you crying
Brother, brother
Far too many of you dying
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today, yeah
Father, father
We don't need to escalate
War is not the answer
Only love can conquer hate
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
How can someone say that this song wasn't necessary for an anti-war album? Admittedly the style is different, but the song is awesome...I applaud Maynard and Co, for having the balls to cover a song so far from their genre and not just making into a metal song...but actually trying something different.
you dirty nu-metal kids need to get some fucking musical background and stop listening to your goddamn ozzfest comp.
youre pissed off because this gorgeous cd isnt all heavy and you cant get all your anger towards your parents out on it. get some culture...
come on tho, we're you really looking for something "heavy" out of apc?? i like all their cds but it sure as hell isnt what i listen to when i'm pissed off... grow up past highschool... if youre pissed off, stop listening to the radio and go to a fucking hardcore show.
First off, I already pre-ordered the CD, so don't flame me for being able to listen to this track early. I think this version is well done. However, I get the chills from Marvin Gaye's version every time I hear it whereas with this one, I just like it. It also isn't as musical; I expected more (Maynard, use your voice, man!!). :( On the other hand, I can really understand how APC interpreted this song. They recreated it to be more subtly (inwardly) angry than sad and depressing to be expressed to all; APC's version sounds like it's someone talking to himself whereas Marvin's version was talking to the world. Overall, it isn't bad; it's just not as good as Marvin Gaye's version (IMHO). Everyone should hear Marvin's original at least once, and I am glad APC brought his lyrics out again for the world to hear and notice! =)
BTW, the next song on the album, Passive, is amazing (like most of the album)! I just thought I would mention that. ;)
okay-seriously this song was not necessary at all to make this anti-war album.
Pathetic and weak, just like the whole album. God Mer De Noms and Thirteenth Step were so fucking amazing!
^ ur a tard
I didn't think this song fit in w/ the rest of the album either. It wasn't as powerful and probably cuz Maynard didn't write it. 13th step was extremely good on its own, but this album also has tracks that are just as great.
I really didnt like this whole anti-war BS that Apc is putting out. Yes I am against the war and i hate "W". But when I listen to Apc I dont want to hear some stupid Marvin Gaye cover and a bunch of anti-war music, I guess that I miss the old Mer de Noms, and Thirteenth Step.
well, you have a really emo away messege. take some anti depressants and go away.
you're checking my away messages? are you fucking serious?
get a fucking life... and go take a shower.
