I'm here going nowhere and that's how I want it to stay
Nobody beside me and I wouldn't want it any other way
I've tried to be someone, somebody they want me to be
I'm back in my own skin now and I wouldn't want it any other way

I'm positively somewhere
I'm absolutely right now
Here inside of me I'm who I wanna be
It's a beautiful day
I'm falling down the freeway
Definitely sunshine
The state of mind I'm in
Like the feeling when you win
It's a beautiful day

Too long I've been searching for something that I'll never find
But that's all behind me now and I wouldn't want it any other way
I wouldn't want it any other way

I'm positively somewhere
I'm absolutely right now
Here inside of me I'm who I wanna be
It's a beautiful day
I'm falling down the freeway
Definitely sunshine
The state of mind I'm in
Like the feeling when you win
It's a beautiful day

I wouldn't want it any other way
I wouldn't want it any other way

I'm positively somewhere
I'm absolutely right now
Here inside of me I'm who I wanna be
It's a beautiful day
I'm falling down the freeway
Definitely sunshine
The state of mind I'm in
Like the feeling when you win
It's a beautiful day

The state of mind I'm in
Like the feeling when you win
It's a beautiful day

General CommentThis song has Melanie looking back at some aspects of her life, one of them being her musical career. If we look at it from this viewpoint, then "Nobody beside me" means that she is now a solo artist (no longer a part of a group), a status which she enjoys. She is finally free to be herself and spontaneous ("back in my own skin"), the artificially created Sporty Spice persona ("someone they want me to be") having been ditched for good. Personal happiness is found in a sunny day-by-day existence free from making elaborate schemes for the future or worrying if the new record will sell well ("I'm here going nowhere"). She loves being "a big fish in a little pond" ; if her commercial success is now diminished, it was a small price to pay for the personal freedom she attained. And yet again, we can ignore all of this and view the song simply as a celebration of being a single woman (or being finally free from an eating disorder, for that matter).
"That's all behind me now" – a similar idea of breaking up with the past and not looking back reappears in many songs on "Reason", it is almost a common theme of the album.
