been a long road to follow
been there and gone tomorrow
without saying goodbye to yesterday
are the memories I hold still valid?
or have the tears deluded them?
maybe this time tomorrow
the rain will cease to follow
and the mist will fade into one more today
something somewhere out there keeps calling
am I going home?
will I hear someone singing solace to the silent moon?
zero gravity what's it like?
am I alone?
is somebody there beyond these heavy aching feet
still the road keeps on telling me to go on
something is pulling me
I feel the gravity of it all

General CommentHere's another song where the brilliant Ms Kanno shows she can do more than write just about any kind of music. The lyrics are haunting and use double meanings so well. Tears dilute but can they also delude? When things are so serious you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders. You long for weightlessness. Zero gravity = no cares.

General CommentSo depressed that the only relief in sight is hope for tomorrow, when the trouble following them might end... and the hope that something good might be waiting for them. 'are the memories I hold still valid?' raises a good point, since people's memories differ and tend to fade and alter over time.

General Commentto me this is a song about somebody who's been separated from his homeland, or a place that means a lot to him, I can understand because I've been away from my homeland for a long time (7 years now), I'm actually moving back in a months time but it just doesn't feel real. After longing for something so much to have it actually come true is unfathomable. One starts to wonder if one is mistaken and that all one's longing has been a fabrication, is it simply because grass is always greener on the other side?

"maybe this time tomorrow the rain will cease to follow and the mist will fade into one more today"
initially this line suggests the singer thinks the rain will cease to fall and everything will go well but at the end of the line the mist fades into another "today", such is the despair felt by the writer that the thought of going back is just too much to hope for.

The writer knows full well that zero gravity exists nowhere, but the dream of returning to that sacred place and having no worries is the only thing that keeps our wayfarer going.

In the end this song describes an immense attachment to a certain place although metaphorically it could be to anything.. the last line

"i feel the gravity of it all"

in my opinion refers not only to the force of attraction but gravity in this sense (eg the gravity of a situation) can be taken to mean the scale of something.

I've been through some tough times and this song has always brought tears to my eyes because for 7 years now I've literally felt "the gravity of it all". =[

My InterpretationSomehow, I think the lyrics are "Or have the tears diluted them?" rather than "deluded".

She does have an accent, but it sounds more like 'diluted', and it also makes more sense... to me, anyway.
