when a man loves a woman, he gets to her
into her and onto her
when a man loves a woman, he knows just what to do
when a man loves a woman, he treats her good
he touches her and tells her things
when a man loves a woman, he knows just what to do

give me the loving, give me the feeling
give me the touch
give me the movement, give me the sorrow
give me the stuff

when a man loves a woman, he breaks her down
he steals her lust
when a man loves a woman, he knows just what to do
when a man loves a woman, he beats her up
abuses her and calls her things
when a man loves a woman, he knows just what to do

give me the loving, give me the feeling
give me the touch
give me the movement, give me the sorrow
give me the stuff

give me the loving, give me the feeling
give me the touch
give me the movement, give me the sorrow
give me the stuff

General Commenti think this song is about spousal abuse... and then, the whole "i hit you because i love you, baby" thing.

General Commentpretty straight forward, the refrains begin with "give me..." Point of view of a person with too much greed and see women as only objects to be taken advantage of - emotionally, sexually, materially.

People have screwed up expectations regarding love. Mine included. I am in repair. Society is ill. We learn through osmosis. But don't blame. Take charge of yourself.

Try reading Rumi, Kabir and other great love poetry to recover. Make friends with yourself. Find your mentors in life who point to the positive. When you care for yourself, you begin to care about others. When you care for the world, the world cares for you back. Learn to go beyond your wounds. Let time heal, and bloom when you are ready. Then real relationships develop.
