"Surfacing" as written by and David Usher....
Car crash East side of town,
The waters deep here you can feel your own Strength fading,
You're beginning to let go,
The bubbles rise as we go down,
Underwater, overwhelmed,
Can't fight the current here It's starting to take hold

But high above me I can see the surface now,
The picture perfect life is fading out of view,
And high above me I can feel the world,
But I don't need it,
But I don't need it,
But I don't need it,
I just need you,
I just need you

Then you grow colder like a dream,
I can't believe the practical things,
They're always out of reach,
And I know you're not really here,
These visions fly so quickly on the edge,
They're starting to take hold

But high above me I can see the surface now,
The picture perfect life is fading out of view,
And high above me I can feel the world,
But I don't need it,
But I don't need it,
But I don't need it,

Won't you help me with this loneliness?
'Cause I don't know what's wrong or right,
Underneath the truth,
Won't you help me with this bitterness,
'Cause I can't seem to walk outside

Car crash East side of town,
The waters deep here I can feel your own Strength fading,
You're beginning to let go,
The bubbles rise as we go down,
Underwater, overwhelmed,
Can't fight the current here It's starting to take hold

But high above me I can see the surface now,
The picture perfect life is fading out of view,
And high above me I can feel the world,
But I don't need it,
But I don't need it,
But I don't need it,
But I don't need it,
But I don't need it,
But I don't need it,
But I don't need it,
But I don't need it,
But I don't need it,
I just need you,
I just need you,
I just need you,
I just need you.

General CommentOkay i think the guy in the song was in a car crash and he's drowning. Then again the car crash and drowning could just be a metaphor for life getting you down. But I think he means it literally. So hes drowning but he doesn't care. Life is meaningless to him and he doesn't want it and he doesn't need it. All he needs is this one person. If he does live this person is the only reason why.

General CommentI think he's drowning in some auto accdent, maybe trapped in his seatbelt or somehow unable to move. Or he's not struggling to swim to the surface because the one and only he needs is unreachable. He lost his will to live. It seems to me that he doesn't need to suffer with the lonliness and he needs her so bad he just lets go. It sounds like he's fighting for life, but also kind of giving up too, mixed emotions, very ovewhelmed by the whole suffocating thing, but he's starting to realize as he slips away that he can't have his love so what's the point in living.
