"Lie To Purify" as written by Mike Justian, John Maggard, Paul Mcgrath, Trevor Phipps and Ken Susi....
Consumed by self loving pain, self loathing bliss
It ears away, burns you like a cancer
The feeling's inside, mask your size with your will
Now you fall from heart and soul
Break, years of frustration
All too plain to see

Ease into war
Invade with foul fingers
Lie to purify
Crushing what's not you

They say some are born with a blackened heart
Fell to the curse of a bastard life
Cursed with a bastard life
Your lust to celebrate your name
Will cause your fall
Can't change, years of frustration
All have yearned to see

The pedestal crumble
Ignored actor of aggression
Falsify to slave
Avoiding all that's true

You stand up, then you fall heartless, soulless appetite
You're crossing almost every line
Now it's time to wash away
You lost your way
You crossed the line
You crossed the line

General CommentI'm surprised no-one has commented on this song- Unearth are incredible and this song is awesome. I think it could be about the war on iraq- "invade with foul fingers"
"they say some are born with a blackened heart, fell to the curse of a bastard life" could be unearth's view on the american government's view on the citizens of iraq.

General CommentActually, it's about the sin of war and the evil in humans in general. The entire album is.

My InterpretationAgree with others that is about the "evils" of war, and probably more so the motives for war (e.g. greed, lust, point of differences). In other words we lie to ourselves (and they lie to everyone) about the true motives behind war.

For example, we thought the Vietnam War was "right" to stop the spread of Communism and to protect the Democracy of South Vietnamese. But really it was an ideological war being waged between the USA and Russia with each hoping to show that their "system" is best. We lie to ourselves though to make the war seem "right".
