"Void" as written by and Darren Stanley Hayes....
I've seen so many faces
These hands have lied before
I've kissed so many lips it's blocked my mind
I've whispered bullshit, nothings
I've cried alone in night
I thought I'd found the one a million times

But doesn't anyone fill the void?
Doesn't anyone kill the joy?
Doesn't anyone take the place of you in my heart?
And doesn't anyone fill the void?
Doesn't anyone kill the joy?
Doesn't anyone take the place of you?

I let a stranger love me
I gave away my pride
I bit my lips, so I could block my mind
I've called your name to others
Just like a spinal chord
Severed and broken but the spark still tries

And doesn't anyone fill the void?
Doesn't anyone kill the joy?
Doesn't anyone take the place of you in my heart?
Doesn't anyone fill the void?
Doesn't anyone kill the noise?
Doesn't anyone take the place of you?

They don't know you like I do
They don't see the good inside you
They don't lie with you in bed and join you when you're dreaming
They don't see your softer side
Who'll be there to turn your light on?
Who will try to wash away the stain that love has left us?

Doesn't anyone fill the void?
Doesn't anyone kill the joy?
Doesn't anyone kill the place of you in my heart?
Doesn't anyone bring the noise?
Doesn't anyone kill the joy?
Doesn't anyone take the place of you?

General CommentPretty much self explanatory. He's been with so many people but no one can take the place of/fill the void that was left by one particular person.

General CommentLove this song. Another hard-hitting, deep song by Darren. It's really a self evaluation, or looking back upon what someone has done over the course of their lives. Really focusing on the love that has failed you and what you've tried to do to attain such a love. He explains all the things he has done, which are not necessarily anything to be proud of. It's the desperate feelings we have when we want to feel loved so badly that we'd go to any lenghts such as giving away our pride, letting strangers love us, whispering bull-shit nothings... and although we try so hard we sometimes cannot get passed that one special love that got away, calling their name to others. That line is such a sad thought. This entire song is very sad and very beautiful. It seems so hopeless and in that, it's beauty lies because does anyone really ever fill the void? Should they?

General CommentVery well said, Miss!!. This song is really "hurting", because it speaks the truth. Coming to terms that this person can't basically be replaced but hating the fact that he/she won't take you back.
    So heavy... :(

General Commentthis is one of the only songs that stuck out at me from this CD of Darren's. I think its an incredibly powerful song and it's so bad that not more people in the world get to hear all of his music. I think it's just like he's missing something in his life, and he is wondering if anything will ever fill the empty space. It's got like a real sense of urgency. LOVE IT.

General CommentDesperately trying to fill an emotional "void" that someone has left in you by physical means.

Love the backing vocals that come in at the second verse- sounds like he's crying...

General CommentThe Tension and the Spark was a very depressing album but it produced stunners like this!
