"The World You Love" as written by and James Christopher/burch Adkins....
I got a story it's almost finished
All I need is someone to tell it too
Maybe, that's you.

Our time is borrowed and spent to freely
Every minute I have needs to be made up
But how?
I'm looking for a nice way to say
"I'm out."
I want out.

I fall asleep with my friends around me
Only place I know, I feel safe
I'm gonna call this home

The open road is still miles away
Ain't nothing serious
We still have our fun
Oh we had it once

But windows open and close
That's just how it goes

Don't it feel like sunshine afterall
The world we love forever, gone
We're only just as happy
As everyone else seems to think we are

I'm in love with the ordinary
I need a simple space
To rest my head
And everything gets clear
Well I'm a little ashamed for asking
But just a little helps
It gets me straight again
Helps me get over it

It might seem like a dream
But it's real to me

Don't it feel like sunshine afterall
The world we love forever, gone
We're only just as happy
As everyone else seems to think we are

You should see the canals are freezing
You should see me high
You should just be here
Be with me here
It doesn't seem there's hope for me
I let you down
But I won't give in now
Not for any amount

General Commentok so i have this theory that this song could be about suicide. kinda like what DarKirby said. but that he, himself would be the one committing suicide.

"i got a story it's almost finished" -It's almost as if it's the story of his life and he's almost done with it, but he just has a few words left to say.

"our time is borrowed and spent to freely
every minute i have needs to be made up
but how?" -like.. he's sick of wasting his time, and wants to make whatever he has left meaningful and worth something.. but he doesnt know how so why worry about sticking around.

also, this is like an amazing song, JEW could have done a little better drawing the bits and pieces of randomness together, but i don't care. this is an aweosme song because it can be taken so many differnt ways.

"i fall asleep with my friends around me
only place i know, i feel safe
im gonna call this home " -my little sister commited suicide and of course, i was curious so i looked into what causes it and everything. and i found out that these people were actually somewhat satisified with their lives and thats how theyre able to end them. so he's with his friends and hes happy because hes protected from depression and drugs around them.. maybe im thinking about this all wrong, but also its like when he's saying im gonna call this home, i can picture him with a satisfied smile.. and yeah..

also. the song kinda gives off a happy vibe if you've ever heard it. that makes me think its more of a depressing song in a sweet and sour kind of way.

gah my computer is about to freeze i will have to finish later.

General Commentthis song is pretty simple to understand. a guy and a girl are in a relationship, in which they've both been for a while, and now it's losing its love. the "i got a story it's almost finished" is their relationship, which is falling apart. he's wasting his time trying to figure out how to end it with her, so he's gotta do it soon, he knows. the chorus is him describing how they both know the love is lost.

as for the snippets of their relationship being the various verses, i could potentially see that in the last verse ("canals are freezing... you should just be here..."). but i think it could also just be him admitting that he isn't FULLY over her, and that he did actually love her at one point, and that a little part of him will always love her, even as they go their separate ways.

General CommentIt seems to me that a lot of the songs on the new album are related to addiction of some kind, probably to drugs. There always seems to be a positive spin though... A hope that things can change, and without that crutch, like here:
"it doesnt seem theres hope for me
    i let you down
but i wont give in now
    not for a million nows"

I love what I've heard from the new album, "Futures", and it's good to see that JEW haven't slipped at all. Far from it, in fact!

General CommentThis is my favorite song off the new album so far....

    I like this part best:
"dont it feel like sunshine afterall
the world we love forever, gone
    we're only just as happy
as everyone else seems to be

im in love with the ordinary
    i need a simple space
    to rest my head
    and everything gets clear "

    It makes me feel happy!

    Yeah, this song does sounds like it's about drugs... But I get the feeling that it's not! *__*;;

General CommentFirst of all, valerie, you dont have the chorus right whatsoever.

Its not, we're only just as happy
as everyone else seems to be

    Its..

"Were only just as happy as everyone seems to think we are"

Anyways, when the song was first played live, the track listing on the set list read "suicide" as the title for this song. Im under the impression that in a very bitter-sweet way, this song is ultimately depressing to me.

Definately along the lines of being young (perhaps drug use?) dont know. But its a damn good song.

General CommentTo me, this is about wanting to get out of a relationship but not knowing how, wanting just to be with your friends and to lose the burden of a partner.

"im looking for a nice way to say
    "i'm out."
    i want out.

i fall asleep with my friends around me
only place i know, i feel safe
im gonna call this home "

General CommentAnother correction on the lyrics:

"but i wont give in now
    not for a million nows"

    is really:

"but i wont give in now
    not for any amount."

My favorite song on this album, I'm glad to see them retaining a lot of their roots, not letting their popularity mess with the sound too much.

General CommentWow, I didn't know that, ReBirth. That really changes the meaning of the song to me, especially the end "It doesn't seem there's hope for me, I let you down.
But I won't give in now, not for any amount"
I'm thinking that probably means that he couldn't keep the person he cared about so much from committing suicide, but as hard as it is, he won't commit suicide himself ("give in"), because he still knows how important life and "the world we love" is.
