Feed the cut and get in line
To live and burn is tug-o-war

Raped!

Go back and forth until it's learned
To suffer now or nothing's gained
Then wake within a freezing sweat
Push and pull, collecting doubt

Starting seeds

Lost inspiration
Panic on the rise
A severed attempt ignored

The reason never outweighs the truth
So backing up and lean against
The liars club come'th shame
Wasting farther, collecting doubt

Starting seeds

Lost inspiration
Panic on the rise
A severed attempt ignored

So hand it off
Don't care enough
Cause ignorance
Is in blissful reach

Lost inspiration
Panic on the rise
A severed attempt ignored

Lost inspiration
Never played the game
A severed attempt ignored

I think he says raped because he is talking about how severe that the internal struggles with God can be, or he is talking about how we fucked ourselves in the Iraq War.

Feed the cut and get in line/ now that we are neck deep into the Iraq War, we want people to enlist to fight, which we hoed would help end the war with us on top, but is really just prolonging the war and fucking ourselves over.

To live and burn is Tug Of War/ To live the way we are, invading other countries and installing dictators only leads to war fights and wars.

Raped/ We are basically raping ourselves and fucking ourselves over by continuing to do this

Go back and forth until it's learned/ Again, we will keep doing this until we learn that it doesn't work

To suffer now or nothing is gained/ the way most people see the war now is that even though it isn't beneficial, we can't lose, so we keep fighting now

Then wake within a freezing sweat/ I'm not sure on this, but I think it means that we give the people half-assed propaganda that people shouldn't believe because it contradicts itself

Push and pull collecting doubt/ We keep fighting only to realize more and more that this is pointless

Starting seeds/ The whole point of installing dictators in these countries was to start our own offspring and gain a bunch of countries who will blindly follow us

Lost inspiration/ Again, we are becoming less inspired to fight the war, realizing it is bad

Panic on the rise/ But we are scared of what might happen if we were to pull out without actually winning

A severed attempt ignored/ I'm not sure on this one, but I think it is that we have failed to do this before, but we fail to recognize that and we do it again anyway

The reason never outweighs the truth/ The reason for us to be fighting here is said to be because of terrorists, but the educated know that it is about oil, money, and power

So backing up and lean against/ We start to doubt ourselves so we ask for help, from other countries, or from our citizens, asking the to enlist

The liars club comets shame/ The people who try to tell us that the war is on terrorism and lie to us will be put to shame

Wasting farther collecting doubt/ Again, we keep fighting, but realize more and more that it's a bad idea

So hand it off/ Blame it on the Middle East instead of admitting that it's our fault

Don't care enough/ They don't care about the people enough to tell them the truth, or to stop sending them to their deaths

Cause ignorance is in blissful reach/ Because making the people dumb and lying to them is easier than to take the criticism and tell the truth, and right now it's working

Never played the game/ They don't know what it's like to go out and risk your life, they just know the profit that sending others to do so can create

Feed, the last head trip/ not sure about this one either, but I think it means that we tell the people it will be over soon, but we could be feeding more propaganda because we don't know

I believe the song is about the war, and not about God mostly because of
The line "starting seeds". It seems extremely irrelevant to a Christian song, and seems to contradict Christian values, but that's the way I see it.

I don't think it has anything to do with Iraq. I think it looks at a person being pulled in different directions, coming to grips with the conflict in their heart. Though Chevelle is not technically a "Christian" band, they are still spiritual and write songs about internal struggles. "The reason never outweighs the truth" means that the reason for sinning here on earth never outweighs the truth of God, and "the liars club, cometh shame" shows the remorse that they have after committing sins such as lying. That's what the song means to me anyway, especially because Chevelle has never written about political matters, only emotions.

this has nothing at all to do with iraq...why do u guys all seem to think chevelle writes about our government...the christian views are understandable considering chevelle is christian and their songs do deal with christianity...but this song is about doing something because you want to or doing something cus u have to

This is an awesome song, one of my favorites.. to me it's saying how life is like one big tug o' war struggle... people always wait for the truth, but instead they get panic,, lost inspiratin, etc... even though this always happens, they will still "Go back and forth, until it’s learned To suffer now, or nothings gained ."

I think what "The reason never outweighs the truth" means is the reason for the lie does not outweigh the fact it is still a lie and the truth should have been told in the first place. I can see where this would fit the situation in Iraq too, whether thats it or not though its a great song.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
