"Get Some" as written by and Peter/loeffler Loeffler....
I tried an idea for no reason
Keep the sun off our shoulders
Crawling back to

A black out
Touching new life
Face down
Set the pace again

The drive the idea still existing
Sat and shuddered broke the pattern
Falling inward
In and down up and out

Let it go follow way back
Call it off any day anyway
Make you feel this
A black out

Touching new life
Face down
Set the pace again

Don't take the fall
We'd hate to see
That's entertainment
Get some

Eyes on the goal
Last one to get
Is passed over looked over
Never rehearse

They've spiked the water
It's in the blood
Get some
We've underestimated

How can I
Get some

How can I

How can I

How can I

Get some

A blackout
Could this be the one

General CommentThese are the correct lyrics for this song:

I tried an idea for no reason
Take the sun off our shoulders
    Crawling back to

    A black out
    Touching new life
    Face down
    Set the pace again

The drive, the idea still existing
Sat and shuddered, broke the pattern
    Falling inward
In and down, up and out
Let it go, follow way back
Call it off, any day, anyway
    Make you feel this

    A black out
    Touching new life
    Face down
    Set the pace again

    Don't take the fall
    We'd hate to see it
    That's entertainment
    Get some
    Eyes on the goal
    Last one to get
    Is passed over, looked over
    Never rehearse
    They've spiked the water
    It's in the blood
    Get some
    We've underestimated
    How can I
    Get some
    How can I
    Get some

    A black out
    Touching new life
    Face down
    Set the pace again

    A black out
    Could this be the one

General CommentYeah on the chevelleinc.com page you can watch a live performance of this song. and before they start pete says its about a night of drinkin some alcohol(dont remember what kind). so i guess when he says "a black out" he's talking about blacking out from to much drinking lol

General CommentLets put it this way. The boys of Chevelle have come a ONG way in trying to be successful and live up their dream of spreading their music. What pisses Pete and his brothers off is that these people can audition and sing songs that THEY DID NOT WRITE and become millionaires instantly. He specifically stated that he feels American Idol is terrible, and that these people dont deserve anything because they dont even come in to audition with their own written music. I must say i agree with the fact that all of the American Idols, although good singers, royally suck because of their lack of determination and creativity. And White Out, i swear to the Devil if you make one more ignorant reference about George W Bush being in Chevelle's focus of creativity i will straight up slap you. It has NOTHING to do with politics, and there are NO references to prove so.

General CommentI think this song is about someone stopping him from achieving his goals. His goal is to "keep the sun off his shoulders" therefore, keep moving west. To not let time catch up with you. The black-out part has meanings connected with the sun. Sun=light, black-out=dark; get it? So the black-out part represents the antagonist. And the sun, or light, represents his goal.

    kudos

General CommentI know that it's about american idol...no i didn't know that before i read the responses you guys put down, but i still think it has more meaning intended than what you guys have told me...

no i dont know what it means, please dont cuss me out for my hypocrisy. it's just that chevelle writes, plays, and performs some pretty incredible music, i mean they are my absolute favorite band ever, and i think they would at least have had some more important underlying meaning than american idol, i mean seriously.

But in defense of the american idol explanation, i can totally understand that that is one of the meanings, because these people have no business using everyone else's music to help them succeed.
