"They Punctured My Yolk" as written by Ronald Jones, Steven Drozd, Michael Ivins and Wayne Coyne....
They never called me up to the tower, we have it to them, they had the power,
And power is the thing that made you take off from me

We trained hard for the mission, all floating over, though we're in zero gravity
Now I'm left here on the landing, the rockets flame boost,
As it's leaving without me, and you go off in the sky.
Good-bye. Good-bye.

Look at the clouds burst, they're growing taller,
And as yer ship leaves in the distance my world gets smaller,
And it takes you worlds away, a million light years from me
Oh, Oh, Oh

General CommentY'know, I've been thinking about this song, actually: not once in the song does it mention that they were a couple, or even in love. We just picked that up from context. Try reading the song as just two friends that are made to lose touch with each other. I think that makes it even stronger.

    Just a thought.

General CommentThis one is very self-explanatory. Two astronauts fall in love, go through the space program together. They were going to go to space together. But NASA for some reason decided not to send them both, maybe it will hurt the mission. So they man is forced to watch the woman go to space from the launching pad without him. The title "They Punctured my Yolk" refers to the people destroying their bond.

General Commentthat's the ostensible story, sure. but it's a pretty sad song that can apply to all sorts of stuff.

General CommentYeah, I agree. I think it's about any couple that have to be split up because of circumstances totally out of their control.

Notice how it follows on to Lightning Strikes The Postman, a song about people struggling to keep in touch over a long distance? I thought that was interesting.

General CommentSometimes when I'm drunk and I listen to this song at super loud volume it feels like the world's saddest song and I get a little overwhelmed.

General CommentI agree with both of the last 2 posts. He is being left behind for power. Perhaps his best friend is going off to college while he stays home. Maybe his girlfriend is taking a job in another city. It could mean a bunch of things. I wish they still made songs like this.
