i really thought that we had something
moving faster than love in plaster
i really thought that we had something
growing stronger but it grew no longer
i thought this time
yeah

i really thought that we had something
set in motion, more than foul devotion
i really thought that we had something
out of the ordinary, more than stationary
i thought this time
what we had you and i

said i'm losing my mind
yeah i got bit all the time
and i'm better off dead
cause it was all in my head
now it's all lost and gone
don't i know it

i really thought that we had somehting,
more than a bore
i really thought that we had something
more than a violation of my imagination
i thought this time
what we had you and i

said i'm losing my mind
got bit all the time
and i'm better off dead
cause it was all in my head
now it's all lost and it's gone
don't i know it
and i'm better off dead

i really thought it would work out
i learned it couldn't cause somehow
we couldn't get along
a little something on the side
would make your life feel more worthwhile
you think i won't be long
you couldn't be more wrong

General Commenti think this song is about a guy who obviously thought his relationship wiv the girl was going somewhere. But she doesn't feel the same and now he's annoyed coz he thought they had somethingreally good.
    Really good song :D

General CommentWe read a story in English class, which immediately reminded me of this song.

    eserver.org/fiction/…

    (that's the story)

It's about someone who falls deeply in love with someone they've never actually had a conversation with, and when he finally does have a conversation with her...he thinks she's definitely in love with her. Until he sees how other people interact with each other, and realizes that it was all in his head, and that the girl didn't really love him, and that it was all in his head :P.

Now, if you want to look more into the song, rather than the shallow meaning, it could definitely be about someone who was in a relationship and realized it was going nowhere. But I like my definition better so HA! *violently sticks tongue out*

General Commentreminds me of my first breakup, when he told me he actually like my best friend (and his ex already anyways) and hadn't really felt anything for me. "A violation of my imagination" indeed.

My InterpretationI think the song's pretty straight forward as to its meaning. But part of me wonders, could this also be true for someone who's in love with their best friend, and yet the other person doesn't feel the same?
