you'll never get it right
they got a hundred lies for you
and when they pass them out
you gotta give or take a few
and be just the same
a head in the crowd but behind the game
oh well, you never can tell

such a clever kid
but i see what's wrong with you
it's all you ever did
take lies and believe them too (true)
knew it all along
another act and a truth gone wrong
oh no
it ain't my hollywood

i went on stricke when the union said i would
had a sign in my hand cause the times were no good
and all this time all they ever told me too
was to get a little lie to ring a little true

i went on strike when the union said i should
had a sign in my hand cause the times were no good
and all this time all they eer told me too
was to get a little more for your little you

and maybe you're alright
and mabye i don't have a clue
yeah, maybe black is white
and maybe black is white too
but it's all the same
you don't get the picture
your getting framed
you too the bait and now it's too late

you didn't turn out right
just look at you
you had the biggest plans
but no way to carry through
it was all an act
and now you can't stick to the facts
oh no
it ain't my hollywood

i went on strike when the union said i would
had a sign in my hand cause the times were no good
and all this time all they ever told me too
was to get a little lie to ring a little true

you spent your time just like they said you should now
those marks on your face just don't
look any good
and all this time all that they told you to
was get a little more for your little you

General Commenti love this song, probably my favourite on the album, and i think it's warning us against listening to and believing all the bullshit and lies we get fed by authority figures as we try to find our way in the world. the subject of the song didn't think for himself, and now he has nothing. he "spent his time just like they said you should" and now he's aged and unhappy. it's saying you gotta do what makes you happy, not what other people think you should do. that's my humble opinion, at least. the hives kick ass, and if they ever tour anywhere near your vicinity, go see them, even if it means a road trip, cuz they do not disappoint, and their music has real substance, which is severely lacking in our culture right now. peace.

General Comment"Paul Rueubens, a k a "Pee Wee Herman", was arrested July 26 1991 for jerking off at the South Trail Cinema, an XXX theatre. [Editor's note: one wonders whether that should even be a crime at all.] Reubens paid a $50 fine and did various and sundry community services. Children's television will never be the same."

    Emh... Bobby Bouche I don't think you're right :)
