"The Writhing South" as written by and Max Bemis....
Searching for blood in the salty sea
The sun beating down
On the chest in back of me
Looking for drugs in a southern town
I've got this red right hand
That points me south
The puke green clouds
Just spat me out
Into the hot, hot lands
I landed with no shoes

I hear
"hey, come pollinate me"

across the room,
I hope to watch you
Writhe again soon

they've got the army of ears
They can't hear you now
I got the piss in my veins
And these furrowed brows
You've got this one last chance
To burn me, turn me down
If not, i've got these last 12 bucks
To spend on you
You can take me anywhere
Your sick mind wants to
Use yourself to fuel me using you

I hear
"hey, come pollinate me"

General CommentI think this song is parrelleling sex to being in the music industry. Some of the lyrics some of you guys were talking about earlier. "Burn me, turn me down" and "last $12 to spend on you" sound like they're music industry refrences, however, I also think he's telling a story about as he moved into the city to become a musician he meets this girl who is basically the next 'girl who's pride makes her hard to forget' He's hitting on her at a bar and he's got $12 left to buy booze and spend on her to try to convince her to sleep with him. He wants to watch her 'writhe'. Max is basically telling a really standard one night stand story in the most insane way possible.

He's basically comparing us to him in this story. We puruse around CDs stores and websites looking for the next thing to entertain us. We don't care what or who it is, if they're not attractive to us we move on, sometimes we don't even pay for it.

    Max Bemis is a genius

General CommentI think the song is about Max trying to get signed but because of the typical unoriginal bands that the rcord labels are happy to sign he isnt getting a foot in. He could, but as shown in belt, he will only do things the way he wants to do them and he won't change. First verse is about him looking to be signed, "for drugs", maybe to feed his habit of music. Then being rejected, "puke green cloud just spat me out". Pollinate me, sign me. Hopes to see the typical bands with their record companys "writhe again soon" or fail. "They've got the army of ears, they can't hear you now" is a clever line. The record companys are supposed to recognise talent "(army of ears)" but just ignore it when they hear it, just because it's different "furrowed brows". But he's still passionate "piss in my veins". I cant understand the last couple of lines tho, posssibly he's taking a stab at those who do just follow the trend of the same old music and actually pay to get there. Or his 12 bucks are his own original song style to give to them and they can do what they want to him as long as he's soing what he wants and getting his messages across to the people, that emos and all trends are a waste of time, stupid and pitiful. By doing this the record label would fuel him up, make him even more passionate but angry.

General Commenthe uses ugly imagery of sex and drugs to describe the greed of the music industry and the process of being signed and selling your music. music executives do not care how the music comes across, so long as it makes money. they are not soncerned about the content, only the profit.

Song MeaningI met max at a private show and asked him myself. he played this song and some oter ones for my girlfriends birthday. it was expensive thoughhh:)(and I saw the show after like a week of nonstop blazing so i was high as fuck1)

    anyways
he broke down the lyrics of a couple of songs, this being one of them:

searching for blood in the salty sea
    the sun beating down
on the chest in back of me
looking for drugs in a southern town
ive got this red right hand
    that points me south
    the puke green clouds
    just spat me out
    into the hot, hot lands
    i landed with no shoes

that part is about him growing up in the south and hating it.he was looking for drugs because he hated his life when he was growing up in the south."puke green clouds just spat me out" this depicts him going to a shitty school and now hes in real life, and he has nothing. so he decides to move to the north.

    i hear
    "hey, come pollinate me"

    across the room,
    i hope to watch you
    writhe again soon

this depicts max meeting a girl up north. he hears the girl singing "hey, come pollinate me." across the room means across from the south. the south and north are like kindof in a war. I hope to hope you writhe again soon means he doesnt want to go back.

they've got the army of ears
    they cant hear you now
i got the piss in my veins
    and these furrowed brows
you've got this one last chance
to burn me, turn me down
if not, ive got these last 12 bucks
    to spend on you
    you can take me anywhere
    your sick mind wants to
use yourself to fuel me using you

he is doing alot of drugs and he thinks people are listening to him and his girlfriend. he continues to abuse drugs. his girlfriend gets mad at him and says he has to stop doing drugs now. he says she can save him, if she wants, from all the bad things he was doing. if not, he wants to go on one last date.

    i hear
    "hey, come pollinate me"

she says again she wants him. he is now clean. and lives happily after.

General CommentI like mattz123 interpretation. Especially since at the end, he says, "I've got these last $12 to spend on you," CDs typically cost $12, and he's saying, whatever I've given in, I'll go buy your music.

    Maybe?

General Comment"you've got this one last chance
to burn me, turn me down"

I think it means..you can like his music or not and it doesnt matter

"if not, i’ve got these last 12 bucks
    to spend on you"

I think what blueofthesky is correct with the CD thing, i bought the CD for 12 bucks, lol.

    "you can take me anywhere
    your sick mind wants to"

I think this means you can take the lyrics however you want good or bad.
