I'm lying to myself
And this dagger is my excuse
I'm a pawn
I should have paid up
And I left an hour late
I was laid up

I must abuse myself
I'm against all that I've made up
Set in stone the sun will come
And I hate light
You know I hate light
To me it looks so pretty burning

Burn the sun
Burn the light
Take take take take take take it away
Take my hand
Take my life
Take take take take take take it away

I must have caught something
In the heat of all these dances
I'm a worm with no more chances
And I've lost all doubt
In a chemical romance

I can't stop itching
Over thoughts of tarnished hope
Kinda funny
Lonely feeling
I'm not in love
You know it's not love
Don't make it look so pretty burning

Burn the sun
Burn the light
Take take take take take take it away
Take my hand
Take my life
Take take take take take take it away

Burn the sun
Burn the light
Take take take take take take it away
Take my hand
Take my life
Take take take take take take it away

Brothers and sisters
I'm right here with you
Cause everyone's got one
A story to to kill me
I'm so apathetic in my resentment
Living, loving, knowing not

Take my hand(x8)
Take my life
Take my heart take my mind
Take my life take my life

Burn the sun burn the light
Take take take take take take it away
Take my hand take my life
Take take take take take take it away
Burn the sun burn the light
Take take take take take take it away
Take my hand take my life
Take my life
Take my life

It's about the fact that he hates seeing things for what they truly are. "I hate light...you know I hate light" he hates being able to see clearly...he'd rather be fucked off Crystal Meth.

The entire "Don't make it look so pretty burning" thing is basically him saying "Don't make things look good when it's really horrible" Decent song...the new album sounds promising

ok is it me or did someone notice he wore make up in the video around his eyes like the singer from My Chemical Romance, and even said something about losing all doubt in a chemical romance....

I agree it to be about how he's become dark and he's gotten used to it, so he despises the light. He claims that why should it be something that great when it burns and blinds you?

Sometimes after you've been in the dark basement for so long, you grow to like it.

I think this album is awesome, but it hasn't grown on me totally yet. But their debut took a bit to grow on me and "In Love and Death" seems to have a similar hook so I think I'll be into it before long. They are just no doubt something just fresh and talented. Hard to place a finger on them, which I like.

I don't understand how I read some reviews about how people were upset because this album got poppy and the screaming went away. Um.... I totally disagree. I believe like a lot of people's sophomore albums (not to discount their uniqueness) that they've just grown in all directions.

I can pick out a song that is harder IMO then any of their songs in the debut (Sound Effects and Overdramatics) and the ballad right after that is softer then any song on the debut. And yes the poppish songs sound poppier, the rest of the styles are more dramatic as well.

I'd even venture to say that this album is not that far different from their first. Definitely so when comparing this with some other bands. Like Tool for example... no album is the same.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

No Surprises

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
