"New Day" as written by Robert James Smith and Laurence Andrew Tolhurst....
Morning sunshine
come light my life like you said you can
with the windows open
all the spirits fly away
pull the wings off
a bird that cannot fly
and ill make you feel the pain of where she lies

'cause this is a new day
for broken hands and breaking backs
this is a new day
for lover's hands and fighting hands(2x)
to finally be set free, from tragedy

Morning sunshine
come light my life like you said you can
and ill give you all the time that we need now
to figure out where we can go just to be alone'cause this is a new day
for broken hands and breaking backs
this is a new day
for lover's hands and fighting hands(2x)
to finally be set free, from tragedy
and ill watch you wash your body clean of all the things you wish you'd never seen

'cause this is a new day
for broken hands and breaking backs
this is a new day
for lover's hands and fighting hands(2x)
to finally be set free

i cast these stones upon you my broken hands
i cast these stones upon my soul
my ghost will carry me home, carry me into a brand new day

'cause this is a new day
for broken hands and breaking backs
this is a new day
for lover's hands and fighting hands(2x)
to finally be set free, from tragedy

General CommentTo me, this song is all about resilience. Getting up when life knocks you down. It's about the great feeling you get when you recover from hardship without help. It's about remembering that you can conquer difficult times with a little perseverence. Anyway, Melee rocks, and it's a shame that they have to be stuck on Hopeless Records, who really do appear hopeless sometimes. This is one of my favorite Melee songs, very good for getting out a of a sullen mood!
