Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves

To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He's holding out His hand

But the waves are calling out my name
And they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again, "Boy, you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says, "Do not be afraid!"
The voice of truth says, "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand

But the giant's calling out my name
And he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again, "Boy you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says, "Do not be afraid!"
The voice of truth says, "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me (calling out to me)
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground
And the waves they don't seem so high
From on top of them lookin' down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me

The voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says, "Do not be afraid!"
And the voice of truth says, "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me (calling out to me)
I will choose to listen and believe (I will choose to listen and believe)
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth
I will listen and believe
I will listen and believe the voice of truth
I will listen and believe
'Cause Jesus you are the voice of truth
And I will listen to you, you are

I can't help but love this song, especially the second verse. That verse , as well as the entire song, is just purely awesome.

I love this song. It really inspired me and made me realize that there are things all around you all the time that are going to be telling you "God won't win" and you have to have faith and realize He will.

I love this song to death. It was the first song I heard by them. My dad got me listening to them, and now I can't get enough.

well, I heard this song last night while i was listening on my radio. hmmmm yeah, I was feeling awfully downcast/misunderstood and was waiting for the right song to come on. and as i listened real closely, i just started weeping and broke down to the floor. afterwards, i prayed and felt the Spirit minister to me that my life's in His hands. ever since then, the words 'voice of truth' have resonated in my head/heart ever since.

When I first heard this song, it reminded me that He was with me and it was His voice I needed to listen to...in the midst of trouble, in the midst of threatening defeat. Weightloss has always been a hugs struggle for me, and I can remember working so hard to eat well, lose weigh, and be healthy. One day, I finally cracked, and was on my way to the store for some "junk". I heard this song come on and I realize that the Voice of Truth was the one I needed to listen to. Satan wants us to fail. It is his voice that tries to bring us down - he is a liar, a deceiver. We need to remember that we are more than conquerors, through Christ Jesus, who loves us and died for us.

After the death of my brother, in April of 2006, I heard this song and cried. I heard this song in a new and different light. My brother could not hear the Voice of Truth. Satan's lies and whispers were all that he could hear.

I have come to terms with the fact that my brother is now gone, I pray with the Lord. I often hear this song and remember how real Satan AND GOD really are. Life, and the spiritual, are not a joke.

Satan is out to steal, kill, and destroy - and we need to never hesitate to share the love, mercy, and grace the Lord Jesus has given to us - a free gift so that no man could boast. Let everyone hear...

    the Voice of Truth.

For me when I hear this song, it's about overcoming anxiety, hesitation, and worry, and taking hope in the Truth that God is much more powerful than our defaults and that with Him we are invincible. We are invincible because the life we live is for Jesus, and He will allow us to overcome anything that comes in our way.

The first verse deals with the anxiety of Peter, one of Jesus' 12 disciples, when he was stepping out of the boat during the storm to where Jesus was. The second verse is the story of David and Goliath. I have no clue what the "soar with the wings of eagles" refer to, but I like it. Reminds me of that Greek (Roman?) mythology about the person who makes his own wings but ends up getting too close to the sun and having his wings melt. Except, in this song, the ending is positive. It also reminds me of the verse in Isaiah 40 when it says "They that hope in the LORD will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow tired, they will walk and not be faint."

I love this song! I've adopted it as my lifesong. It is such an effective message. We are all ordinary people but with Christ we get to do the extraordinary. We shouldn't fear..we shouldn't listen to anyone but The Voice of Truth..the Lord always supplies what we need because it is for His glory that we are doing what he has called us to do.

Awesome song. I got the album from a friend and put it on my ipod, and while walking my dog this one came on. I stopped where I was about half way through, put it back to the start, and just stood there for 5 minutes listening to the whole song. My friend's mum has a saying "Step out of the boat" she uses with her children, telling them that God will help them through anything they're afraid of doing, and this song just went perfectly with that. Through God, nothing is beyond us if it is for His glory.
