Riding on these waves
Holding on to what you say
Everything will be okay
It will work out one way

But I've drifted way too far
My arms, my legs, have grown too tired
And could you be inspired?
No, I'm just tired

And on a swing you push me hard
So I'll come back to where you are
And you know I'm never far
No decisions, nothing hard

And I knew that it would rain tonight
I'll take the bus or the next flight
I won't give up on what feels right

If you see these tears filling my eyes
It's just the wind that makes me cry
If you could feel this pain inside
It's from the drinks we drank last night
It's from the drinks we drank last night

And the shadow of our past
Projects on clouds of dust and gas
Wounds where my eyes will rest
The silhouette of when we met

If you see these tears filling my eyes
It's just the wind that makes me cry
If you could feel this pain inside
It's from the drinks we drank last night
It's from the drinks we drank last night

General Commentas far as "If you see these tears filling my eyes,/it's just the wind that makes me cry." i think it's like she's talking to someone, and tearing up, but trying to cover up the fact that she's beginning to cry. the same kind of idea, with "If you could feel this pain inside,/it's from the drinks we drank last night." like, she's pretending that the only reason why she feels pain is because she's hung over.

i feel like she's talking to a guy and she's getting tired of always giving him the benefit of the doubt.

General CommentThis song is about exhausting relationships and about when it hurts to hold on to love. This person is in a relationship that has become too exhausting. Her lover has sent her emotions up and down and though she is "tired" she cannot let go and he does not know how she hurts. He keeps her close. He can push her away and distance himself because he knows that she'll come back to him. She'll do what she can (to be with him) to find comfort in what feels right despite how it hurts her. She holds this all inside, hoping that he'll be inspired to change. She dwells and on the past and the how it has brought the relationship to where it is now (projections of gas and dust). Reflection of the memories make her wounds even more raw. The relationship is tiring and she cannot tell him how much she hurts so she blames it on alcohol and the emotional state it can put you in.

General Commentthe phrase "the drinks we drank last night" could quite possibly represent an altercation between two lovers, she keeps saying "if you could feel this pain inside- its from the drinks we drank last night." the alcohol (which often impares judgement) could represent a fight and emotions and realizations that blur her view of everything. she acts nostalgic but almost in a depressed way.

"And on a swing you push me hard,
so I'll come back to where you are.
And you know I'm never far. "
i think this means that though they may fight, theywill always get through it.But he has to realize that her feelings do get hurt, and perhaps she's a little sensitive. she says "its just the wind that makes me cry".. meaning its just the little things that get me upset.

so in the end they'll be alright as long as they realize how much they love each other

    General Commenthaha.

i listened to this on repeat for pretty much 3 hours last night.
my friend had drank and even i had just a little, but not enough.
and then she held my dates hand. so i went outside to cry because i hate when people see me cry.

at the time this song made 100% sense.
"If you see these tears filling my eyes, it's just the wind that makes me cry."
that to me is just something you would say to someone if they saw you crying (ex: when you're crying during a sad movie and you say 'it's just allergies')

but in this long comment, the story of my life, and my little description of the meaning.. i think it could be referenced to more than just lovers. anyone who hurts someone while they're drinking and the other person is sensitive but doesn't want that one person to know how bad they hurt.

General CommentI love this song. I think it´s about a relationship ending, because of the alcohol. They both had drinking problems, and they both were depressed. So they drank to feel better but as known, you only feel better when you drink, not the days after.
The song discribes just the way it feels when you´re addicted to alcohol but still wants to stop drink. The sick thing is that I can relate to this song and I know what it feels like when you wake up the day after drinking being filled with anguish.

General CommentThis song reminds me of a relationship on the brink of ending, and a person trying to convince herself that the reasons she's miserable isn't the relationship.. but other things. Like "If you see these tears filling my eyes
It's just the wind that makes me cry" it's an excuse.

    my two cents.

General Comment"It's just the wind that makes me cry."
Have you ever been in a situation either where you're breaking up with someone, or you're trying to discuss something extremely serious with an S.O. and either a person or a parade or a television or the weather is consistently interrupting your serious emotional talk? I think that's what this line is about. It's particularly poignant because the wind really can make you cry, on wretched nights or when it's blowing moist air.
